While the performances (particularly the aforementioned) are good, and the direction is solid, the script doesn't seem to go anywhere; maybe that's the point, though, since neither do the characters in their vacuous, instant-gratification-based existences. ~ Jeremy Beday, Rovi

I saw this drama on TV a long time ago, I thought it was pretty boring for the most part, but it seemed a pretty realistic view of teenage girls. Plus, there are a bunch of stars in this, so it's an okay movie.

Kind of muddled. Does not seem to be very well edited and the story skips around a little bit and doesn't always make a lot of sense. Also, WTF with the young bride at the end? Aren't these girls meant to be like 16 or something?!
I kind of liked it for it's early 80's setti... read moreng - the fashions were amusing, (those HUGE glasses), and I was interested to see Cherie Currie act. On the whole it is a story of female friendship, which is always good, but I think it could have been executed a little better.

This is OF COURSE, one of my all time favorites... I just watched it (AGAIN) last weekend with my kid... he kinda cried... I recall watching this with my mom, dad and bro when I was younger... The entire cast is amazing, but Jodie is a genius as always...

Great story about teens... read more making not so good decisions. These friends were each other's family since they didn't have much parenting...

Rent it, buy it, download a bootleg copy, JUST SEE IT!

Not a bad movie though a bit dated. Brought back some childhood memories of babysitters I had, with the clothing and all. I enjoyed Jodie Foster in this film...even at a young age she had acting chops.

  • October 31, 2006
This is a great period piece showing what it was like to be a teen girl in the '70s. Cutting school, drinking, drugs, sex...it's all here. Also a good portrait of the close "family" a group of friends makes between themselves. Of inteserst to see an early jJdie Foster performanc... read moree and a rare performance by THE RUNAWAYS lead singer Cherie Currie (Both good).

If it's a drama, it's too silly to be effective - and if it's a comedy, it's alarmingly free of charm. Full Review
