Arin Crumley, Susan Buice, Marc Scrivo, Joe Griffin, Brad Calcaterra

One couple's rocky road toward togetherness is mapped in this comedy drama which melds elements of documentary and fiction. Arin (Arin Crumley) is a struggling independent filmmaker who pays the rent ... read more read more...by shooting and editing wedding videos; he loathes the "four-eyed, two-mouthed, eight-limbed" beasts known as couples in love, but he would also prefer to be less lonely than he is. However, Arin is terrified of talking to women, and has a borderline phobia about sexually transmitted disease. On an Internet dating site, Arin meets Susan, (Susan Buice), an artist who wants to pursue a career in painting but in the meantime supports herself by waiting tables. Susan's attitudes about romance are only slightly more optimistic than Arin's, but after exchanging photos and messages, the two sense they have something in common. But both are wary of traditional courtship, so they make an unusual agreement -- they can chat online, they can trade videotapes, they can exchange poems and sketches, and they can communicate by any means besides talking to one another face-to-face. While this arrangement presents a number of challenges, it also opens up their expressive abilities as well as their feelings for one another, and slowly they both find themselves revitalized romantically and aesthetically. Four Eyed Monsters was written, directed, and edited by the real-life couple Susan Buice and Arin Crumley, who in addition to playing themselves loosely based the film on their own courtship; they also distributed the film as well. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Unique blend of modern romance and technology.

I normally love Indie films but this was mediocre. I felt like I watching a home movie that some kids made..

What makes this flick awesome is evident not only in the picture but in the concept: I am a total fan of the anti-date.

I'd been wanting to see four eyed monsters since i first heard about it through a friend's blogs. What these two people did is something completely amazing. the low low LOW budget they worked with and the freedom they've had with this project is completely inspiring.
i just wat... read moreched the film on youtube.

it came to me like a beam of light. i didn't think i was ever going to be ale to see this film. for them to be able to post their film on youtube for people to watch for free embodies everything that independent film making should be.
they were able to make an exceptional film from the little money they had.
big budget blockbuster movies aren't this good.
the cinematography was awe inspiring. the plot was a completely inventive and beautiful idea.
the emotions and imagery were vivid and beautiful.
some rough spots show up,[ when arin cry on the phone it's not the most brilliant acting i've seen] but the rest of the film was done really well for a group of essentially not actors. it's not the film for everybody. it gets slightly confusing in some places but otherwise its a really wonderful film. and for free it's worth giving a chance or two.

really awesome film project, makes me wonder what life would have been like if I would have decided to go down the artist's path rather than this unending course towards the ivory tower.

this was really amazing...it was soo real and thoughful, i was amazed at it....i really loved this movie, and to think it was a small film...that's just inspiring!

This had an aesthetic I had never really seen before. It's pretty inspiring to any young aspiring filmmaker.

Ohmygoodness. I loved this! I can't say it's exactly appropriate for kids, but it was defnately awesome and worth my time. I really like the whole story, and it makes the whole movie even better knowing that it's a RUE story. I watched it on YouTube, and it will only be up there ... read moreuntil August 15th, so go watch it!!
