How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days co-stars Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey re-team on the big screen for this adventurous tale about a treasure-hunting couple whose eight-year quest for the ultimate pr... read more read more...ize has left them flat broke and fresh out of gas. Ben "Finn" Finnegan (McConaughey) is a treasure hunter who has made it his mission in life to track down the Queen's Dowry -- a legendary collection of 40 chests filled with priceless treasure, and lost at sea in 1715. But in his single-minded quest to track down this sizable booty, Finn has sadly neglected his marriage to his loving wife Tess (Hudson). Tess has grown tired of the hunt, and now she's looking to start her life anew by going to work on the massive yacht of globetrotting billionaire Nigel Honeycutt (Donald Sutherland). But just as Tess begins to relish the freedom on her new, laid-back lifestyle, Finn uses his roughish charm to convince the adventurous baron and his debutante daughter Gemma (Alexis Dziena) that the elusive Spanish treasure is finally within reach. Of course no magnate in his right mind would reject the prospect of tracking down the most mythical treasure on the planet, and now as the hapless Tess is forced on yet another wild goose chase, her husband's former mentor Moe Fitch (Ray Winstone) and a greedy local gangster (Kevin Hart) up the stakes by joining in on the race. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Fool's Gold had the potential of being a good comedy film, but the problem with the film is that it's bloated with overused clichés from previous comedies, thus everything you'd expect that will happen, happens. I thought that the film started off well enough to be a good, fun co... read moremedy film. However, halfway through the film, the film falls apart, and due to a somewhat lacking cast, the film doesn't deliver. There's some good actors in this film, but they are miscast, and really don't cut in their respective parts. I think Fool's Gold fails at delivering anything good, and it's a shame because the film had the potential of being a good comedy. Like I stated previously, Fool's Gold starts falling apart halfway through the film, thus the film ends up being mediocre. Although the film is not an awful piece of garbage, it does suffer from not being an effective comedy because of a dull script. The film at times is funny, and amusing, but for the most part, it doesn't anything to really engage the viewer. Matthew McConaughey in my opinion should give up Rom-Coms. I think that he's a talented actor, but the fact that he keeps starring in boring, uninteresting romantic comedies is really sinking his career. Fool's Gold is yet another example of a rom-com that has checkered his career. The film has its moments, but it never succeeds at being a good film.

Terrible film, just purely pathetic and unfunny.

    True Love Takes a Dive.

Saw it again on TV! The movie is fun and entertaining, that's all there is too it. It has some action and some romantic comedy which can serve for a nice date movie night for a couple.

Fools Gold stars Matthew McConaughey as Ben Finn Finnegan, a good-nat... read moreured, surf bum-turned-treasure hunter who is obsessed with finding the legendary 18th century Queens Dowry -- 40 chests of exotic treasure that was lost at sea in 1715. In his quest, Finn has sunk everything he has, including his marriage to Tess Finnegan (Kate Hudson) and his more-rusty-than-trusty salvage boat, Booty Calls. Just as Tess has begun to rebuild her life, working aboard a mega-yacht owned by billionaire Nigel Honeycutt (Donald Sutherland), Finn discovers a vital clue to the treasures whereabouts. Certain that his luck will change with the newfound information, Finn maneuvers himself aboard Nigels yacht and, using his good-natured charm, convinces the tycoon and his Blackberry-wielding, celebutante daughter, Gemma (Alexis Dziena), to join him in the pursuit of the Spanish treasure. Against Tess better judgment, the search rekindles her loveof discovery. But they are not the only ones after the treasure. Finns mentor-turned-nemesis Moe Fitch (Ray Winstone) has also set out to claim the prize.

Of course there's nothing new or memorable here, but it's a fun romance adventure film.

A decent, fun and enjoyable comedy/action film with a nice tropical setting. Reminded me a lot of Into the blue similar story but with a comedy twist. It has a good cast line up. While not being ground breaking I still found it a fun film to watch.

McConaughey & Kate Hudson showed electrifying chemistry in 'how to lose a guy in 10 days'. Although Fool's Gold did'nt turn out to be as great a fun-ride as the former, it had it's enjoyable moments with typical treasure-hunt-movie thrills and cool landscapes.

It's good to see Kate and Matthew back together in their second rom com. They are a divorced couple who wound up together again to look for lost treasure before the baddies get hold of it. Matthew gets beaten up a lot. It reminds me of 'The Mexican' (hopeless male and exasperated... read more female). Good cast. Average plot.

Watched this plane wreck on a plane - made the trip unbearable. McConaughey and Hudson are tiresome.

Fool's Gold is so predictable that seeing the trailer is essentially the same as seeing the movie.

Not only do we not care about the lost treasure, their characters aren't developed enough for us to give a hoot, so nothing about this story strikes gold. Full Review

The movie winds up as a lot of pretty people sitting around a movie set waiting for a director and writers to strike comic or romantic gold. At least their tans were 24 karat. Full Review
