Based on the Virginia Andrews novel but without the really juicy bits, this is still very compulsive viewing if only for the fact that Kristy Swanson is in it.

Weird and creepy and I dislike the bitch granny, then four innocence kids' mother.

This movie feels like a really bad TV movie. I kept thinking the brother and sister were going to sleep together because he keeps wanting to talk to her while she is bathing and even helps wash her back at times, granted four of them are kept locked in one room for over a year.

The most effed up movie EVER.
I don't think this movie will ever be remade for that very reason. -

The acting may not be great (and in Tennet's case it actually works) but the story is so damn disturbing that you can't help but be engaged. The slow zoom out to the 4 graves is pretty genius.

THE BOOK WAS VERY GOOD, AND THE MOVIE PRETTY MUCH LIVED UP TO MY EXPECTATIONS. I THINK THIS IS ONE OF V.C. ANDREWS BEST WORKS. IT SHOWS HOW GREED AND LEAD A PERSON TO DO ALMOST ANYTHING EVEN LEAVE THEIR CHILDREN IN AN ATTIC FOR YEARS.

The book was way better. I don't like how they changed the characters around...they made the mom really evil.
