The citizens of London must grapple with one of the greatest environmental crises in British history, and the possible obliteration of the city itself, in Flood, a natural disaster opus from director ... read more read more...Tony Mitchell (Supervolcano). In present day England, a colossal storm hits the North Atlantic Ocean just outside of the UK and moves toward the Scotch mainland, laying waste to the town of Wick. Some predict that the crisis will die off; not so Professor Leonard Morrison (Tom Courtenay of Billy Liar), who worked arduously on the Thames River barrier. Morrison presciently foresees the system moving across the Thames barrier, where it will gain added strength from the year's unusually high tide and inundate London with a wall of water. In desperation, Leonard contacts daughter-in-law Sam (Jessalyn Gilsig), Director of Operations for the barrier, and warns her of the impending destruction; Sam's estranged husband (and Leonard's son) Rob (Robert Carlyle), who is employed as an engineer on the Barrier, and Police Commissioner Patricia Nash (Joanne Whalley) also become involved. As the water hits - just as predicted - these officials declare a city-wide state of emergency and must take extreme measures to keep the pending disaster from spiraling out of control and claiming untold numbers of lives . ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

This is a fairly decent disaster film. It's a nice change to see a film of this type set outside New York for change! Some of the acting is pretty dour....the old guy playing a marine expert is especially bad, talking at the same pace and tone no matter what the scene. However th... read moree SFX in places are impressive and shots of a flooded London are believerable. Overall it would have benefitted from a bigger budget, but it is still watchable.

Excellent special effects make this disaster move very plausible. The sets are very authentic looking. A good choice of music rounds off the film nicely. Acting is good and the presence of David Suchet adds some weight to the cast of course. Compared to other movies of this genre... read more, Flood is right up there with the best of them.

This I think was a Syfy channel movies & it was 3 hours long. Granted yeah it at least tells ya a story & you might like me start thinking of making up an emergency kit (Flashlights, glad bags for important papers/books cash, clothes etc.) So it gets to your fears & gives ya litt... read morele paranoia. For that I like because weather a syfy or horror movie horror in particular is suppose to do that & its hard to find a movie (esp. made for Syfy) that will do that. So normally those movies get a d or f this one I'll give a C+ to. (regardless of the long time but I think it was shown on tv in 2-3 separate instalments. The disk was straight out)

Hooray! Finally a movie about nature disasters who takes place in Europe!=O Oh my one half extra start just because of that.
Flood actuly exceeded my expectations. You can clearly see that the director want it to look like a Hollywood production but I think that he shouldn't hav... read moree done that. There are very many simillarities with the movie "The day after tomorrow", which I think is unbeatable in it's cathegory. So no...he should have tried to make something new and not have Hollywood as inspiration all the time. Sometimes this move got very predictable and cliché. But it was alright, and as I said it was very intresting so watch a movie about nature disasters which take place in Europe.
