Doesn't pretend to be original, far from it, this is your basic group of random survivors holed up and fighting off some nasty monsters with little weaponry. One by one people go down as the creatures rip them apart, no one knows where they are from or what they are, its a very s... read moreimple premise but always effective.
This isn't as good as I thought it would be as the creatures do look ferocious enough in the face but when seen from head to toe they do look rubbery and obviously a man in a suit. Of course you don't see them much as the camera work is fast n furious when the action kicks in and this is actually one problem with the film, the action cuts and moves very fast and its hard to follow and know who's been killed.

There is a good sense of being uneasy as you watch the film though as you genuinely don't have a clear idea of who will survive from one minute to the next, there are afew 'Ellen Ripley' wannabes but not even they are guaranteed to make it hehe Plenty of gore and body parts and the always amusing sight of a bunch of people facing mortal danger yet still intend on beating each other up and acting aggressive to one another to help their precarious situation.

The "humping" part was stupid and gross. Other than that, it's okay.

Campy, Hillarious, Disgusting, Perfect. Any movie that so shamelessly kills children gets 4 stars in my book. I can't wait to watch the sequels!

Lots of modern horror films attempt to spoof the cliches of the genre while still being scary. Often though, the end result is mixed between good (Slither) and bad (Cabin Fever). Feast falls somewhere in the 'bad' territory. It certainly has plenty of humor, from the way it in... read moretroduces each character to the monsters' procreation skills, but what it lacks is the horror element, which is instead replaced with simple gross-out gimmicks. Much like Cabin Fever or even Hostel to a degree (I thought the original Hostel was fairly clever), Feast mistakes maggots and slime for real horror. The plot is simple: a group of bar patrons are trapped in the bar by a group of monsters, and must figure out a way to either escape or kill the monsters. The monsters are actually pretty nonsensical, they fill the typical movie monster requirements in that they're super-fast, super powerful, and super sneaky, all while being 8 feet tall. They're also incredibly ridiculous looking, as sometimes they're simple rubber latex and others they look exactly like the monsters from "The Village", minus the red cloaks. I kept hoping for something original to pop out at me during the film, but inbetween the nonsense (at one point, one of the monsters vomits slime-covered maggots all over one of the characters- twice), we get scenes taken almost directly from other, better horror movies ("Night of The Living Dead" for example). The movie itself comes from a television show called "Project Greenlight" which I've never seen, but it's produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, I think in an attempt to find the next "Good Will Hunting", or at least give young filmmakers the same opportunity they had when making that film. With Feast, they needn't have bothered.

A bloody as hell and disgusting gore fest of fun and exhilerating excitement. Loads of outragious laughs, cheesey one-liners and crude and gory action sequences. It is absolute fun from start to finish and you cant help but love it. One of the best monster movies ever made. A ver... read morey original and superb horror film. It shows all the cliches of past horror films and eliminates it with this nasty and crude bloodbath of greatness.

I was so disappointed by this film. It was so hyped by all the people I usually trust to know good horror, but the actual film has very little going for it. The only things I liked about this film was the design of the monsters, Henry Rollins' character and the little gimmick the... read morey had when they introduced the characters. The gimmick wears thin fairly wuickly though, because you can really only introduce a character once, and it's not much to hold up a film. This movie is really pretty much the same as every other monster-seige movie out there. And there are plenty.

Hero: Listen to me. A storm o'hell's coming down on this place any second. I don't know what they are, I don't know where they came from. All I do know is that these fuckers are fast, nasty, and hungry... and there's four of 'em. They got claws like Ginsu knives and more teeth th... read morean a chainsaw. They're comin'... right now. So we gotta lock this bar down. That means doors, windows, drains, and zippers, and we gotta do it now. You! Get a phone, call the cops, National Guard, townies, anybody who kicks ass, and get 'em out here. Any questions?
Bartender: Yeah. Who the hell are you?
Hero: I'm the guy that's gonna save your ass.
[a monster immediately reaches through the window and kills him]

A low budget, creature feature set in one location with characters so cliche they are described as such with title cards and not given names. Its short and sweet but doesn't maintain a clear enough tone to make it anything better.

The story is simple, people are at a bar in the middle of nowhere and are suddenly attacked by monsters, forced to used the bar as a holdup while they think of a plan.

The cast is made up of D-List actors and Henry Rollins, the budget mainly goes to the gore, which comes hard and heavy frequently, and the whole thing is an easy enough watch.

What does help is the attitude the film has. It certainly tries very hard to defy many conventions, offering up surprises in terms of who's next to be killed. It also attempts to be very humorous about the whole thing.

This is the main problem, the human is not taken far enough or blended well enough into the mix. It also doesn't help that very few of the actors are any good at this type of thing and a lot of the dialog and situations are ridiculous without being intended that way.

Still, the movie does manage to be a satisfying enough gore fest that is quickly paced and over in a little over 80 minutes.

Beer Guy: I think were gonna be okay, guys. Yeah, I think were gonna be alright. You know, this is just some leaky barrel, radiation, toxic dump waste, enviro-crap, freak-beast accident that crawled out of the sewer, man. That's all this is.

Great movie in the vein of from dusk till dawn. It's gore gore and more gore with a great sense of humour.
A must if you like your horror dumb and fun.

Had a hell of a start, but went steadily downhill from there. Rumor has it there's a Feast 2 and 3 on the way. (I'll spare you the obvious puns.)

While the reality television series that chronicled the making of this low-budget horror film last year was extremely entertaining, the piece of cinema that resulted is kind of a bore. Full Review

[Director John Gulager] shows a little flair for the genre, though the editing is so frenetic you really can't see what's going on (a blessing, considering how cheesy the monsters look and move). Full Review

Basically throwing together familiar horror ideas without focusing on any in particular, Feast hopes its wild tone will compensate for the lack of distinctive characters or ideas. Full Review

Feast isn't quite demented enough to reach Raimi-an heights, but Gulager uses parts of the monster-movie buffalo even the buffalo didn't know existed. Full Review
