George: This was the moment I'd been dreading for the past six months. Well, actually for the past 22 years.
"A comedy about letting go."
Father of the Bride is an amusing, heartfelt comedy. I wasn't overly impressed by it, but I did enjoy it. Steve Martin's performance is a l... read more

FATHER OF THE BRIDE, at times was a fun family comedy. Not much of it was actually funny, which is quite surprising, considering this is a Steve Martin movie, and usually he makes us laugh a lot. I thought of it more as a romance movie, and some think otherwise. That said, I e... read more

This is a good family movie. I wouldn't say this was hilarious as some of the scenes seemed to be. But this was decent. I haven't seen the original movie. But this was enough to give me the general idea of that. I liked the wedding planner most. He was the best character that mad... read more

Not an incredible movie, but it's fluffy enough to enjoy. If you like the actors then you will like the movie, but if you don't then you won't. There was actually some really funny stuff with Steve Martin and Martin Short in this, which was worth the movie in itself.

This is a horrible remake. Steve Martin ain't no Spencer Tracey! Short & Wong are a couple of my favourite actors but they should be ashamed of themselves here!

Steve's character goes through a mid life crisis as his daughter is grown and is about to marry. Martin is hilarious as the wedding planner.

Critic Reviews
Best stuff here comes strsight from Martin, such as his frenzied antics in the in-laws' house or his ridiculous Tom Jones imitation in front of a mirror in a too-tight tuxedo. Full Review
The material has been successfully refurbished with new jokes and new attitudes, but the earlier film's most memorable moments have been preserved. Full Review
[A] slight but delightfully sweet-natured new comedy starring Steve Martin. Full Review
This is a movie with heart, and there are little moments in it when Martin is deeply moved by the fact that this perfect creature he brought into the world is now going to start a family of her own. Full Review
After a provocative setup, this Touchstone Pictures offering pads innocuously down the aisle, a remake that doesn't touch the Spencer Tracy classic of the same name. Full Review
This feel-good finale might feel even better, though, if it had any true connection to the pat, amiable, and rather dawdling farce that preceded it. Full Review
The strengths of these films are not so much laughs as sincerity and heart. [Blu-ray] Full Review
"Father of the Bride" should bring a smile to anyone who's been in a family that's had a wedding-regardless of your point of view. But the sequel doesn't offer quite the same level of comedy and insight. Full Review
The film belongs to Steve Martin, whose crisp, almost bitter delivery, although frequently off-putting, manages to put an edge to a film that, without him, would be mush. Full Review
