Sean Connery, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Ving Rhames, Will Patton, Maury Chaykin ... see more see more... , Kevin McNally

After a long career playing good guys, Sean Connery gets to have some fun playing a crook for a change in the romantic crime thriller Entrapment -- and he even gets to break the law with the lovely Ca... read more read more...therine Zeta-Jones. When a priceless Rembrandt painting is stolen from a New York skyscraper in a daring and technically sophisticated robbery, ace insurance investigator Virginia "Gin" Baker (Catherine Zeta-Jones) begins looking into the matter and is soon convinced it's the work of master art thief Robert "Mac" MacDougal (Sean Connery). Gin thinks the best way to get the goods on Mac (and perhaps recover the painting) is to work her way inside his operation, so she locates him in London and, posing as a fellow art thief, offers to work as his partner. While Mac is smart enough to not accept an offer like that from just anyone, most thieves don't look as good as Gin does in a leotard, and she soon proves an able assistant in a shakedown robbery where they pinch a rare Chinese mask from a British museum. After this success, Mac agrees to join forces with Gin for what is literally the heist of the millenium -- as Midnight rolls around in Kuala Lumpur on December 31, 1999, the security computers in a major multinational banking facility will be breached for a split second as the computers roll over to a new program for Y2K. Is that long enough for Gin and Mac to nab $8 billion in bank transfers? Is 14 days long enough to prepare for a robbery of this scale? And will Mac and Gin's professional relationship pave the way for some capers in the bedroom? In addition to playing the male lead, Sean Connery also co-produced this film; the supporting cast includes Ving Rhames and Maury Chaykin. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

I'm usually on for insane heist films but the below average non sensical lackluster Entrapment is a huge mess in all of the wrong ways. Firstly, the muzzled plot destroys any chance of chemistry between ... read moreConnery and Zeta Jones which should have been the main priority as opposed to slickness and style, but unfortunately it doesn't grow to have that either. The characters go entirely undeveloped because of the cliched script and although it has a few inspired action sequences the result is something dark, ludicrious, boring and unexpectedly dull.

As far as heist films are concerned, Entrapment is often overlooked and it's no surprise as to why. The film has a mood of overbearing cliches thats been done a hundred time before. Done better too. But theres a strange appeal to this film that just makes it a passable heist/acti... read moreon film. Sean Connery delivers a memorable good performance (one of his last actually good performances, after this he went downhill before retirement). Entrapment is pure popcorn action film. The film is not meant to be perfect by any means. The film is pure entertainment. Despite the somewhat cliched formula, I thought it was still an interesting idea for a film. The acting is good, the suspense is there and the action is top notch. Obviously the reason this film has gotten so much praise is because of Catherine Zeta-Jones famous ass shot. In almost ever review, reviewers everywhere has praised the famous scene. I'll admit the scene is very sexy and all, but you shouldn't judge a film because of that scene alone. Theres plenty of things aside from the laser scene to enjoy. Entrapment is a film that will surely appeal to heist fans, despite its slightly cliched plot. The film does have enough thrills to appeal to anyone who enjoys a good action yarn, and if you're looking for a terrific Sean Connery performance, Entrapment is one of his last good films. Of course it's not his best film, but it certainly isn't his worst. An entertaining good time and an absolute blast.

Entrapment is exactly what this film is guilty of. It is a snare for all those lured to cinemas by Sean Connery's charm & Catherine Zeta-Jones' bum, and the false promise of an enjoyable crime caper.

a fun action film which you don't have to think too much about. and catherine zeta-jones is hot in leather.

Mac: Rule number one: never carry a gun. If you carry a gun you may be tempted to use it. Rule number two: never trust a naked woman.

While describing this movie to my friend who came in late, I told her that it's about thieves thieving so they can be successful in thieving. On... read moree's the master thief and the other's the rookie thief trying to prove herself to the master. I said this and realized that this is a very easy movie to come and enjoy. It's in no way original and it involves two of the sexiest people in the world trying to one-up each other.

Mac: We'll either both get caught or both get dead.

Sean Connery is a master thief and Catherine Zeta Jones is a rookie thief posing as an insurance agent. She seeks Connery out with a proposition to learn from him as well as make a lot of money.

From there we get a number of twists and turns revolving around alliances and how-do-they-do-it thieving scenes.

And besides the forced romantic factor between Jones and Connery, the movie is very sexy showing both characters. Connery is at his most Conneryist here and Jones struts her ass through lasers. What more could you want? Well, you get Ving Rhames being his cool self as well.

Its a very decent movie, that flies by very quickly and is fun enough.

Mac: Has there ever been anyone you couldn't manipulate, beguile or seduce?
    Gin: No.

A dreary high-tech heist movie. The stars may be British but the wealth of extraneous travelogue details (castles, stately homes and red telephone boxes in the British segment) show this to be squarely aimed at the American market. Honestly, you'd think it was subsidised by the B... read moreritish tourist board. Zeta-Jones and Connery are okay but there's no real chemistry between them; perhaps Catherine couldn't imagine herself falling for some craggy old dude at this phase in her career.

A pretty good heist movie as Connery plays a daring thief thought to be long retired. Has good chemistry between the 2 leads and the scenes filmed in Malaysia at the Petrona towers are cool.

Caterine looks fab. Good storyline. Could list to Sean all day. Lovely voice.

It sounds interesting, but it's really not. Too bad.
