I don't know why everyone loves this movie I thought it was extremely boring.

Fairly faithful adaptation of the Jane Austen novel. Gwyneth Paltrow is adorable and Ewan McGregor sans ridiculous hair is kind of charming, so this should all make for quite a solid movie. But despite all this I was kind of bored. The problem is that the story wasn't all that gr... read more

gwyneth is good in this but it's the rest of the cast that really makes this a pleasure.

For some reason, when I first saw Emma I gave it two and a half stars but since then it has become one of my favorite movies. I am so glad that I gave it a second chance!

"Maybe it is our Imperfections that make us so wonderful for each other"
An interesting study of a young upper class woman Emma Woodhouse (Gwyneth Paltrow) whose position of privilege in English country society allows her to meddle in the private affairs of others! She tries t... read more -

It's not difficult to enjoy the genteel amusements Emma provides even while wishing its virtues were less wholly on the surface. Full Review
Gwyneth Paltrow sparkles in the title role, as young Miss Woodhouse, who wants to play God in her own little patch of England. Full Review
[Paltrow] plays the title role in Emma with wit, timing and a to-the-manor-born graciousness...It's an intelligent performance from an actress everyone was ready to dismiss as a lightweight. Full Review
This is a better-looking movie than Sense and Sensibility and one as rich in characters.
Paltrow is smashing.
Perfect for warmhearted family entertainment. Full Review
This Emma is light, airy and modern -- surely Austen's funniest work. Full Review
While Sense and Sensibility loves subtlety, silence, and space, and Persuasion loves realism, repression, and understatement, Emma loves its star Gwyneth Paltrow ... Full Review
McGrath pokes gentle fun at the over-refinements of privileged gentility, though not without enjoying its trappings and honoring its best aspirations. Full Review
