Elvis doesn't have his mortician's license, but that doesn't stop his eccentric father from putting him to work in the family mortuary. When the sting of her mother's words becomes too painful to endure, Annabelle flees to the town mortuary knowing that is the last place her mother would come looking for her. When Elvis discovers the beautiful Annabelle cowering among the corpses, he sweeps her away on an impromptu road trip so that the pair may free themselves from their daily drudgery long enough to discover their own identities and realize what they really want out of life. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Quirky, and enjoyable independent film. It had a nice romance, and a heartfelt father and son relationship. How can someone not like that?...:)

A moving, somewhat uneven, meeting-of-lost-souls movie. Elvis is an emo mortician, and Anabelle is the breath-of-life who turns his world upside-down! His stubborn...emo-ness and her bossy optimism kinda wore on me a bit, but Minghella and Lively are both invested in their role... read mores.

But of course, there's the obligatory "let me explain" scene in the pouring rain, in which Elvis doesn't really explain, and Anabelle is forced to think the worst of him and the *spoiler alert* seemingly necrophiliac pictures.

Overall, a nice little story about miracles and redemption.

A surprisingly sweet mix of young romance, light comedy, and light drama. Blake does a great job as Annabelle, the young reluctant beauty queen who wakes up on an embalming table after "dying" onstage, and Joe Mantegna is sweet and tragically charming as the handicapped father of... read more Elvis, the unlicensed mortician who almost embalms Annabelle. For his part, Max Minghella's performance was a little less stellar (I think his main look was "scowl", with an occasional reluctant grin thrown in for variety), and although I did enjoy his and Blake's scenes I thought the chemistry between them could have been improved some. Also, there is one plotline regarding a possible pregnancy from Annabelle's stepfather that gets utterly abandoned about twenty minutes in. Other than that and a couple of eyerollingly almost-cliche moments, the film was incredibly beautisweet and is definitely worth a look, even if it does get somewhat predictable in the end.

I saw this one day on the Lifetime Network or as I like to call it the amnesia/beaten womens channel. I was surprised that this movie was so great! The characters are enjoyable and the plot is definetley worth watching for and hour and 38 minutes.

A Quirky, sort of "Sleeping Beauty" for the New Millennium, but not with your Parents Elvis(but probably named after him).Oh No, this Elvis(Max Minghella) is a young ,unlicenced Mortician covering for his father(Joe Mantegna) that is unable to do the work anymore.Anabelle (Blake ... read moreLively)is the Newly Crowned Miss Texas who dies after her Pageant Win & ends up on his table for embalming. This movie started off very strangely, but quickly grows on you. It had a very strange introduction to the love story and the father was a little off putting. The further along you get into the movie, the better it became. I highly recommend this for anyone that likes quirky ind... read moreie romance flicks.

A cute love story reminiscent of 'The Notebook' but with slightly more melancholy starts. The whole "supernatural" thing about the film was off-putting and unnecessary. I think the mortician part of the story was interesting, but maybe having her wake up from the dead was a littl... read moree much. It was difficult imagining Blake Lively not as Serena van der Woodsen, and although she tries well to pull off a Southern belle charm, she seems too much like a character actor. Also Joe Mantegna was probably not the best humpback dad for the part. Otherwise, Max Minghella was great, but his character should've taken half of the dialogue Lively had

"Romeo Romeo where for art thou Romeo?" Oh wait, that is classic literature. This was a mostly Gouda laden teeny bopper rom com. Admittedly I do like a little cheese with my movies. I also think that Blake Lively is very pretty. There were some good parts to this film. I thought ... read morethat Joe Mantegna did a great job playing Charlie. I also got a kick out of the whole necrophiliac undertone of the story.
Overall I would have to say that Elvis and Anabelle is another fairy tail wanna be that thrives on the teeny bopper obsession with romance and prince charming.
