Julie Walters at her best and a great performance from Caine! Lewis Gilbert is often overlooked but has made some great British films!

Excellent cast. Educating Rita is about a hairdresser who wants to prove herself at university.

The usual chalk and cheese comedy of manners that's the staple of british comedy. Better than most because of the appeal of the two star performances but still as contrived and predictable as you'd expect from this genre.
