Burke. Joshua Pollack (Justin Timberlake) has discovered a glitch in the system, and as a fledgling journalist he sees it as his duty to expose the corruption. When Pollack misjudges the depth of the authoritative decay and his girlfriend is hospitalized following a brutal attack by the alliance of crooked cops known as F.R.A.T., he soon decides to take action and prove that even those who believe themselves to be above the law still aren't beyond its reach. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

The performances are quite good but the story lacks intelligence and structure. The conclusion is laughable and undoes a lot of good work. It's watchable but you can't help but feel it's a wasted opportunity and fairly inexcusable considering the people who worked on it. A bad da... read morey at the office.

This film had a lot of potential but in my opinion failed to deliver what could have been a great plot. A waste of two great actors; Kevin Spacey and Morgan Freeman, disappointingly watchable

A riveting and exhilerating edge of your seat action thriller. Smart, fast-paced and packed with plenty of excitment. A great story of coruption and politics. A truly stunning all-star cast. Kevin Spacey and Morgan Freeman are teriffic. Dylan McDermott is electrifying. LL Cool Ja... read morey has never been better. Justine Timberlae is sensational. Tense, stylish and filled with explosive action. A real nail-biter from start to finish.

Nothing more than a sub-average film

An ok action/drama film as a young reporter discovers a possible cover-up by a group of police officers. Which puts his own life in danger. There are better examples of this type of film around though.

Great thriller about the corrupt cops. LL Cool J is doing great in the final shootouts and Justin Timberlake makes a fine performance in his debut acting of this film.

Lol this is a knock off of Swat. Same type of motive, people, and story. Yet, it is almost as enjoyable. Not quite though.

Oh, wait! One more thing. Isn't LL Cool J in Swat?

I am baffled as to what the director of 'Edison' was actually tring to achieve. Is this meant to be some dystopian view of the corporate society gone horribly wrong? Or an all guns blazing action-comedy? With such a haphazard tone built into such a ludicrous screenplay, the quest... read moreion I should be asking is what on earth are Oscar winners Kevin Spacey and Morgan Freeman doing in such a cheap and lazy motion picture?

Okay, so I gather that the plot concerns some secret police unit named F.RA.T that is corrupt from the get-go. Even judges are in on the money-laundering scams. But young journalist Josh Pollack (Justin Timberlake) uncovers the truth after a drugs-operation goes awry, and a man is convicted of a crime he did not commit.

The premise sounds more exciting than the execution, I assure you. What confuses me most is that while the action and thriller aspects of the material are poorly written, they are directed competently enough. Actually a couple of moments border on very good. But then the director makes a major mis-step when handling the comedy; it is like witnessing scenes from another film entirely. They don't fit with the story or the atmosphere, and try to make some attempt at lightening the tone. Question: when everything else is just about running smoothly, why tack on such unnecessary filler?

Still I am not sure 'Edison' could ever recover from such a flimsy script. The action is a bundle of good-guy bad-guy cliches, and Timberlake and LL Cool J just don't have the energy or ambiguity to make us question their morality. You can guess the outcome of each scene before it dawns, and the lengths to which the screenplay assumes itself intelligent is almost laughable.

'Edison' also suffers technically, particularly with the editing. Scenes move too fast, cars seemingly jumping from one place to another with little coherence and pace. But what leaves you feeling so detached is the inability to get caught up in the story; a joke it is, but some effort in getting us in on the joke would probably have done the picture some good. As for Spacey and Freeman, well their talent is wasted; figures for name-dropping when the plot proves to dull and inept to sell itself.

I can't imagine even die-hard action junkies getting much love out of 'Edison'. From the ridiculous unravelling of the plot, in an almost insanely ignorant world, to the nauseatingly perfect ending that you have to laugh at to avoid getting worked up. Stupidity best sums up the writing, but I didn't feel to clever myself having wasted my time thinking 'Edison' was actually going somewhere.

had potiental... but fell flat with poor directing... nice fight scene between LL Cool J and Dylan McDermott though...

There was some good action, but definitely not Justin Timberlake's best role. Morgan Freeman pulled it off though.
