A little propaganda-ish, but still very important to see. Very gruesome though. Harder to watch than most (other) horror movies.

A must see movie, this exposes everything that humans do to animals. It shows the cruelty in eating meat also.

(read the whole review before coming to a conclusion of your own.)
i will start off by saying, that i'm not a vegetarian and secondly that i grew up next to my uncle's dairy farm and helped out from time to time rounding up the cows, scrapping shit off the floor into the gutter a... read morend milking. on a small farm things don't go the way they do in large industrial farms. obviously, industrial farm or not, not everyone is beating the hell out of the animal or taking their time slaughtering it, but i'm certain that quite a few are. i'm not aware of a single lie in this film. perhaps it exaggerates unknowingly, except in the case of chickens, but i think that is probably the worst of it.

i have read a review in which a person stated that there was so much violence in this film that they thought the makers just made the thing to get off on it. that is quite silly considering the film stated several times that the reason they were showing this footage is so you know what it means to put an animal on the table to eat or use as a coat. and well, it's a very valid point. many people don't think about where the meat comes from and even if they do, are so far removed from the process they have no true conception of what death is outside a child's terms.

sadly, some people would never understand even if they were doing the killing themselves. this film definitely has an agenda and the people behind it definitely would love for the world to consume less meat. and? so? their point has a valid base, no one is trying to physically force you to stop eating what you want, only to consider what you're doing.

but that so many people don't want to admit that they either take more than they need or that death to bring animals to the table generally requires some pain, can only mean that so many people are cowards.

this film, although gruesome, raises some very important questions that deserve some well reasoned honest answers. it is worth watching.

Misanthropists, I stand corrected with this film. An environmentalist propaganda film big on lecturing and informing, and structured like an essay, but it's for a good cause I suppose. It completely denounces human activities and their disregard for the ecosystem and animal life.... read more In the similar spirit to PETA films, showing the worst case scenarios on animal maltreatment, killing, and such, the images are raw, stomach churning, and suicide inducing. The film frequently brings up the term "speciesism", discrimination based on species, as an indictment on the human race and its careless, polluting actions which have long been considered normal. Preachy and disturbing, it babbled on about mankind's errors, but never discussed solutions or ways one could make a difference, so it's like a bearer with a note addressing problems on end, and by the end of the film, you feel like contributing to a cause. Vegan in nature, and with some footage that has swirled on the internet about man's dominion over animals. The narrating and arguments are entirely one sided, and I would've preferred a balanced presentation as the images speak for themselves, but there's still a valid point to be found.

I found this documentary film to be visually interesting. (I have a strong stomach.) But, the dialogue spoken by Joaquin Phoenix was filled with varying amounts of correct and incorrect information, at times even venturing into outright lies!

    Full review to come.

Hard to watch. A lot of brutal video depicting terrible things happening to animals. But this is a bit far-fetched because they use the term "specieism" to mean something bad. Like looking out for the interests of yours and your own first and foremost is now somehow unnatural! WT... read moreF?? Plus the comparisons between the holocaust of the Jews and farming were intriguing. (I just KNEW that would piss THEM off; no one else is allowed to exploit that time and place except for them!) I don't know if shocking people into vegetarianism is the best way to recruit, but I guess it works. I rarely, if ever, see an argument from that camp that doesn't rely on some sort of shock tactic.

They need to do better research. Some of this info was false. If you are going to pramote veganism you don't have to show dogs beeing killed by garbage trucks, and rednecks shootings pigs..... There are other ways. Its almost as if the people making this film got off on filming g... read moreore. One could very easily get the point accross without showing the sickening intensity. I couldn't finish the movie. I was interesting in learning something new.. Not be fed false info and expore my poor eyeballs to needless gore.

It might be worth watching, if it wasn't so...ummm...anti-human I guess. I feel like apologizing for enjoying a hamburger.

EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH EARTHLINGS!!!!!!! I CRIED SO HARD, but it shows the truth beyond the illusion.
It shows man's complete dependance on Animals. For food, entertainment (Don't go to the circus!), clothing (Don't buy real fur!), and testing (horribile!! And if they wanna find... read more cures, TEST ON HUMANS. God scientists are so STUPID.!)

I KNOW you won't be able to watch it ALL, but i did. I forced myself. So i could tell others.

    Humans suck!!
Except us compassionate people who ACTUALLY give a crap about our wonderful majestic animals.
    :)

Bless Joaquin Phoenix for narrating this.
    He's amazing. I Love him.
