Living next door to Nathan is Roy (Max Roeg), who attends the same high school and makes pocket money driving the school bus. Nathan is infatuated with Roy, and one day while they're doing homework together he discovers Roy is also interested in him. Nathan and Roy become lovers, though Roy notices that Nathan seems more familiar with gay sex than his experience would lead him to expect. Roy and two friends from school go camping one weekend, and he invites Nathan to join them; Roy's friends don't know he's gay and aren't especially open-minded, and after spending several hours swapping stories of ghosts and grisly folk tales, they begin to wonder why Roy and Nathan insist on sharing a tent. However, everyone is in for a surprise when the furtive lovers are confronted.     This movie could have used a lot more dialog and a lot less dead air. Having said that, I thought Max Roeg was easy to watch; he has a very nonchalant ease about him. One thing they nailed was the sense of being in the 1970s. I grew up in the '70s and this film made me think of o... read morene or two hotties that Max reminded me of...the hair, the creamy white skin, the jeans, the laconic attitudes. Those were simpler times, less hectic, less frenetic, less...can be more, I suppose.
    'Dream Boy' was a trip down my own line of reminiscences, sexually and otherwise. Overall, not a bad film, especially if you were a teenager in the '70s.

    I wanted to like this but for me it was slow moving, predictable and topped off with a very unsatifying ending.
