Most westerns wrap their stories, legends really, with a light clothing of history and period. Any history found in them is usually a mix of legend and fantasy. Those looking for fast-paced action will be disappointed in this film, as it deals more in psychological character studies than action. Sheriff Wyatt Earp (Harris Yulin) is shown to be a fairly ordinary politician, and the romance of Doc Holliday (Stacy Keach) and Kate Elder (Faye Dunaway) is highlighted. As it must, however, the film concludes with the well-known gunfight at the O.K. Corral ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi

One of the best versions of the classic Doc Holiday & Wyatt Earp story. Stacy Keach is awesome as always. One of the favorites of the Coen Brothers.

Interesting take on the Earp/Holiday legend. A fairly accurate portrayal of Wyatt, but in the process, the most interesting character Doc Holiday, gets too soft.

Director Perry is only moderately capable of handling the talents in a film which is either meditative or boring, depending on how it is viewed. Full Review
