Like a Youtube video farce of a thriller, but with highly recognizable faces, this one plays an old game of bait and switch and hopes you'll play along and pretend to be surprised. I doubt you will. Although very stylized looking, ultimately an empty exercise.

Deception was a no expectations held sort of film for me and yet it made a surprisingly good watch.
Not entirely original, certainly predictable in a lot of parts, but easy watching. An entertaining thriller. -

Hugh Jackman gives a flawless performance as the evil mastermind Wyatt. He is the reason people should see this movie. Ewan McGregor on the other hand is terrible, easily the worst performance he's ever given. He was just so pointless. This movie should have focused on the life o... read more

The twist at the end was good. But overall this movie is not worth watching. Skip it if you're searching for something more entertaining.

Good thriller, but kind of loses it in the second half. Cast are all good, but the story is not convincing in places, and could kind of see some of it coming. It's a pity as the first hour or so with the whole secret hook up club idea was something a bit different and was not ... read more

It's as if they took a Hitchcock movie and dropped the style and IQ level about 85 percent.
A would-be erotic thriller with no heat and zero chills, Deception has the kind of glassy, glossy sheen and risible story that mean to suggest Basic Instinct but instead invoke lesser laughers like Ja...
Despite a cast that includes double-crossers Hugh Jackman and Ewan McGregor and Michelle Williams caught in the middle, the film is a yawn. Full Review
The inevitable absurdities and coincidences of the plot are easy enough to accept along the way, except perhaps for the sex club, which is just a little too absurd to function as a plot device. Full Review
An overwrought and ultimately silly thriller. Full Review
There's only one good con game going on here. And it's the studio's sneaky plot to nimbly pick $11 from your pocket. Full Review
