Robin Williams stars as Randolph Smiley, a popular children's show host known professionally as "Rainbow Randolph." Dismissed from his beloved job when he's caught taking payola, Randolph becomes increasingly mentally unhinged and the target of his delusional revenge fantasies is Sheldon Mopes (Edward Norton), otherwise known as Smoochy, the fuchsia rhino character that has replaced him and soared to national popularity. Randolph soon learns that his ex-girlfriend and network executive Nora Wells (Catherine Keener) is sleeping with Sheldon, so he sets out to kill Smoochy, egged on by an unexpected ally: corporate president Marion Frank Stokes (Jon Stewart), who should be profiting from Smoochy's rise to fame, except for the fact that he and his cronies are unable to control the idealistic Sheldon's on-air agenda. Death to Smoochy (2002) co-stars Harvey Fierstein, Vincent Shiavelli, and Michael Rispoli. ~ Karl Williams, Rovi

I loved the black comedy and how so many awful things happen with the involve of a children TV show. But Death to Smoochy have a bad script, what don't hel“p the movie. Rotten.

He's Big, He's Blue, He's Smoochy... and He's got to DIE!

Good fun movie. It's entertaining and the story was smart and witty with lots of oddballs thrown around. Nice cast to go along with Williams and Norton who were very funny.

But things take a turn for the worst when Sheldon finds out that some of the people that he works with, and some he doesn't know he's working for, are all in it for the money. Meanwhile, Randolph is slowly turning insane with his only thoughts focusing on killing Smoochy and getting back to his life of luxury.

    Ohh what a terrible movie.
the whole concept is absolutely ludicrus and boring.
I found Edward Norton extremly annoying in this movie that i couldnt finish this movie without getting absolutely irritated by this movie.

Death to Smoochy is one of the weirdest movies I have seen. I really enjoyed aspects of it and really hated others. Edward Norton was spot on, as usual, in the role of Smoochy; but the Robin Williams/Rainbow Randolph aspect was horrible. The movie was all over the place and in th... read moree end was just not as good as it could or should have been.

A dark comedy with a rather odd story. Norton and Williams acting and funny roles are the main support that holds up this film from a boring crumble.

A truly lost gem. Genius work from both Robin Williams and Ed Norton. I enjoyed the hell out of it.

I really loved this dark comedy! "My step dad's not mean he's just adjusting!"

This movie has a wild combination of elements make an enjoyable black comedy. A tired kids' show host, Rainbow Randolph (Robin Williams), plans death to the new Purple Rhino named TV host named "Smoochy" (Edward Norton). The mob get involved, and it's literally a hit. I like all... read more the songs and skits; a lot of funny stuff goes on behind the scenes of the Kids' show. The ice show spectacular at the end is superb.

Funny as all get out. These two actors came into the fight with their best and it shows. I recommend this one for the weird people.

A dark comedy that blows up like an exploding cigar, leaving nothing much behind but smoke, noise and a bad taste. Full Review

Death to Smoochy is often very funny, but what's even more remarkable is the integrity of DeVito's misanthropic vision. Full Review

I'm sure that some country, maybe France or something, will hail this as a work of genius, because it is so incredibly awful. Full Review

In Death to Smoochy, we don't get Williams' usual tear and a smile, just sneers and bile, and the spectacle is nothing short of refreshing. Full Review

This kind of dark comedy requires a delicate, surgical touch. But director Danny DeVito and screenwriter Adam Resnick (remember Cabin Boy?) just pound away.

The cynicism is colossal, the casting superb: Norton may be the only actor alive who could pull off a character like Sherman, without making him either an idiot or a parody. Full Review

The comedy Death to Smoochy is a rancorous curiosity: a movie without an apparent audience. Full Review
