Death Sentence would be the worst movie of the year if it weren't for two people. The first being Kevin Bacon. He creates the character this kind of movie needs. You're everyday man with the perfect family and the perfect job. Anyone can relate to him. But when his son is killed ... read more

Great suspenseful thriller. Pretty graphic but very entertaining.

Same old vengeance stuff, only that it's done in a way bit too idiotic & worse this time around. So, if a mindless action flick with a plot that's been done to death (badly executed in this case) sounds interesting/entertaining to you, go for it.

Solid drama-thriller, about a corporate executive (Kevin Bacon), who after the cold-blooded murder of his son, goes on a personal vendetta against the assailants behind the horrific deed. As you may have guessed by now, the story doesn't hold much originality, but it's an excitin... read more

Standard straight-to-dvd (I assume), revenge thriller. Was okay till about halfway through when Kevin Bacon turns into a macho tough guy, then just loses all credibility and gets boring as well.

August 9, 2009fb619846742Overall disappointing. There's a parking garage sequence that deserves its own type of award, but the storytelling could've been sharpened, and John Goodman's character could've been used more. I just didn't really believe the sudden down-spiral Kevin Bacon's character underwent,... read more

its not a bad filmits got action and kevin bacon does a performance of a lifetime but its like many films where a family member is stricken with grief and wants revenge causing problems foreverone and then causing more hassle for himself so its worth a watch just nothing special
Critic Reviews
This graphically violent film suffers from cursorily developed characters whose primary function is to advance the creaky plot. Full Review
The morality of revenge is barely at issue in a movie that pushes the plausibility of revenge right over a cliff. Full Review
It's terrible and it's so disappointing because I love Kevin Bacon and I love Aisha [Tyler] and you have good actors here who are trapped.
The result is such a mish-mash of conflicting tones and ideas that it doesn't play well on any level. Full Review
. At both its best and worst, it feels like the missing third part of the faux retro double-bill Grindhouse. Full Review
As rancid as its title is lurid, an example of pulp fiction run amok. Full Review
Blunt, bloody and far too busy with its sledgehammer plot and mighty gunplay to waste time on the main character's inner life, Death Sentence is a baseline entertainment. Full Review
If only the world were a more peaceful place, we wouldn't have to sit through movies like Death Sentence. Full Review
Fails to provide any sort of genuine social context for its violence. Full Review
