This movie was quite familiar to me. I thought I was watching a remake of Color Of Money. Spme serious hackey acting and I believe Reynolds studied Newman's performance in the forementioned film. The pros that make cameos don't even add anything to the film.

It's called Deal. It's a movie about Texas Hold'em. Big surprise. The movie was good, I suppose. It didn't suck anyway. I liked the ending, it was predictable - but it was the ending I wanted so all was right with the world. ;)

It wasn't a bad, and the cast seemed to fit pretty well. However, it wasn't that good, either. It never really got up to a "on the edge of your seat" lever of intensity, or a serious level of laugh out lout comedy. Instead, it was just sort of a smooth ride all the way.

Pretty Good movie, Burt Reynolds is old but still a good actor. Plenty of poker stars in this one, if you like poker then this is a good one to see.
Critic Reviews
Reynolds doesn't convey any of the lightning bolt insouciance that made him arguably the greatest movie star of the '70s and '80s (really) but rather just stands there. Full Review
Success isn't in the cards for this plodding poker drama.
Deal could use a touch of the slickness that's making the blackjack drama 21 such a greasy hit. Full Review
A product of the recent poker craze, this can't compare with the movie that helped launch it, John Dahl's tense Rounders. Full Review
Deal is perhaps too briskly paced: The narrative moves along a bit too fleetingly for any genuine character development. Full Review
Moving slowly these days, Burt Reynolds does less than no acting in this role, and he's still the best thing in Deal. Full Review
The film has more of a checklist of clichés than an actual script and, when it comes to the cast, director Gil Cates Jr. is scraping the bottom of the barrel. Full Review
An embarrassingly toothless and endlessly boring story about characters we barely get to know doing things that are more exciting than they make it seem. Full Review
As a piece of entertainment, it's like being dealt a pair of twos: You could certainly do worse, but ... Full Review
