This less-satisfying sequel to the 1982 George A. Romero/Stephen King anthology presents a new trio of King stories, framed in a similar EC Comics-style format -- this time featuring some rather lackl... read more read more...uster animated segments involving horror-host "The Creep," who introduces each chapter with pun-heavy gallows humor. The stories vary widely in quality: first there's "Old Chief Wood'nhead," involving a cigar-store Indian who quite literally guards the entrance to an old general store and comes to life to avenge the murders of the elderly couple (George Kennedy and Dorothy Lamour) who owned it. The middle segment, "The Raft," features a group of obnoxious teenagers stranded on a raft in the middle of a lake at the mercy of a murderous oil slick which looks like a bunch of plastic garbage bags stitched together. Both of these suffer in comparison to the closing segment, "The Hitchhiker," in which a bored, promiscuous socialite (Lois Chiles) mows down a hitchhiker, who refuses to stay dead, returning again and again to torment her at every turn, rasping "Thanks for the ride, lady!" Despite its strengths -- a livelier pace, some creatively gory set pieces -- this is a much cheaper-looking effort than its predecessor, with the deft guidance of Romero conspicuously absent (long-time collaborator Michael Gornick took up the directorial reins); as a result, King's gross-out sensibilities don't come off as well. Makeup maestro Tom Savini appears in heavy makeup as a live-action version of The Creep, and King pops in for a bit part as a redneck trucker. ~ Cavett Binion, Rovi

Loved the first, and loved this one too. Not sure which I like better, considering I saw the original over a decade ago. I believe through the years, this one will be more memorable to me though, with the blob-like water creature and the hilarious sequences of "Thanks for the rid... read moree, lady!" followed by a scream several times.

A really poor collection of 3 short horror stories. All looking very outdated and silly, the acting is terrible apart from George Kennedy in the first story. The 2nd and 3rd stories barely have a plot to mention. The animation inbetween is rather poor as well, should have stuck w... read moreith Tom Savini in the mask, rather than the cartoon. Stephen King and Romero are back for more tales of terror hosted by 'The Creep', again the film is bookended by a short story that starts off as live action but then transforms into that eerie cartoon style that looks so good in the Creepshow films.

The stories again are a mixed... read more bag this time not with quite as great a cast line up as before but we do have George Kennedy this time :)

First up is a story of an old wooden Indian Chief statue coming to life to get revenge on the youths who killed the old owners of a general store where the Indian is on display. Kennedy is in this story and it is a good one with a nice revenge plot but it is predictable, nice effects on the wooden Chief though.
Second story is slightly better than the first with a group of teens stuck on a raft in the middle of a lake because an oil slick type monster that is devouring them one by one. Nice spooky idea that, despite the monster looking like a flat pancake floating on the water, works well especially effects wise when the teens are sucked under by the creature.
Last story is the weakest and simply involves a woman hitting a hitchhiker with her car and the hitcher coming back to haunt her for the rest of her journey. Pretty lame predictable plot which must have inspired 'I What You Did Last Summer'.

A slightly better selection of short stories over the original minus the good cast but still nothing really outstanding or as memorable as 'Twilight' or 'Darkside', still I must admit I like this old Creepshow flicks very much, love that 80's US halloween style.

The segment with the lake partying teens is a favorite of mine. I watched it as a child and it left an impression. As an adult Ive re-watched it and found it wonderfully campy.

I had heard terrible things about this film and that it didn't hold a candle to the original. Many people said the film was lame and not worth watching. I enjoyed the first Creepshow film, and it by far one of the best horror anthology films in the genre. But after reading review... read mores of this sequel, I was skeptical about seeing this film. I was shopping at Walmart one day, and I saw this film for 5$ in the bargain bin, so I figured what the hell? I watched it that night, and came out fairly surprised. For me the strongest stories in the film are The Raft and The Hitchhiker. Both stories are terrific and amusing.
Creepshow 2 is a step down from the previous film, but manages to still be entertaining. The stories presented here are average entertainment. The first of these tales is probably the weakest one in this anthology. The second and third stories like I've said are the best, but considering the first film is so good, this sequel is inferior and disappointing. However it's not bad, but compared to the first film, it leaves the viewer with a lot to desire. Also considering the cast involved in the first Creepshow, the cast assembled for this sequel is disappointing. Despite all of this, this is an entertaining bur flawed sequel that does manage to amuse the viewer despite the fact that the stories could have been a bit better.

Although it's not as good as the first, it's still a very good anthology horror movie, and I really liked it. If you loved the first one, you should see this one too. The stories are very interesting and scary, and the cast is interesting too. I highly recommend it.

"The Raft" is by far the best of the three 'tales of terror' here. I've never been a big fan of sequels, but it's easier to swallow with episodic horror films where each story stands (or falls) on its own merit.

While it doesn't quite have the magic of the original, it is a very interesting collection of stories. "The Hitchhiker" and "The Raft" were the strongest, while "The Chief " felt like a filler. It has great campy acting in it, which makes it all the more fun. It's not Romero, but... read more it's not bad.

Not a great follow up to the first film but it?s not without its fair share of gore, scare and comedy! The cartoon segments are a little poor though and the acting is awful but it?s an 80's horror film so that?s to be expected really. I?ve seen a lot worse!

George Romero contributes the screenplay this time, basing it on some tastefully selected Stephen King morsels. Full Review

Tied together with some humdrum animated sequences, three vignettes on offer obviously were produced on the absolute cheap, and are deficient in imagination and scare quotient. Full Review

Whereas Romero's approach to this material is distinctly tongue-in-cheek, Gornick makes the mistake of giving the stories a straightforward treatment that merely heightens their inherent weakness. Full Review
