A decent film about a man getting his life back, but this cliched story won't wow you. Bridges puts on a fine performance, but this movie is clearly Oscar bait rather than a story for general audiences.

Sad to see someone (Jeff Bridges) I've always admired and liked just about any movie he's ever done, getting old, but he's aged extremely well when it comes to movie talent, as this movie proves. Compelling story or how alcohol can take your life away, no matter how much money yo... read more

August 29, 2011fb100000040220993There's really nothing that happens in this movie that you haven't seen before. Jeff Bridges rescues the entire film. Had anybody else played the lead role, this film wouldn't have amounted to much. Bridges turns in a performance that's as charming as it is genuine. I recomme... read more

Delivering excellence as always, Jeff Bridges just keeps piling up our reasons for loving him as an actor. In this delightful music trip, he even gets to show off some of his impressive vocal talent, which appears to have been hidden from us up until now. Initially as a somewhat ... read more

Jeff Bridges shows that he is one of the greatest actors around with his role as Bad Blake in Crazy Heart. It is probably his best role since he played The Dude in The Big Lebowski. A very good and suprising performance comes from Maggie Gyllenhaal, also. Overall, Crazy Heart is ... read more

Crazy Heart is a hard flick to watch, brilliantly shot and very well acted but slow and grim overall. I had just finished the novel (by Thomas Cobb, written 1987) when I watched it, and I think that in the 20 years that passed between the book and the movie, the material changed ... read more

You can see why this won the Oscar for Bridges...he is terrific in this role Serious flick for adults, this is NOT a teen or kids movie. This is rather dark and dismal in places, though realistic. Realities of alcoholism depicted well. Robert Duvall produced, and did a fine job, ... read more

It seems Jeff Bridges is not only a great actor but a great singer too! His performance in Crazy Heart is brilliant, he thoroughly deserved the recognition he got. The film itself though was a little overlooked I feel, I thought the pace, script and overall ambiance of the film c... read more

The movie belongs entirely to Bridges, who won the Golden Globe for best actor in a drama. His inimitable Jeff-isms have never been more endearing - the sloppy gait, the whiskey glass balanced on his ... Full Review
When a movie offers you a couple of hours with a drunk, he better be a charmer. And even then, it's a gamble; we've all known charming drunks, but a little can go a long way. Fortunately for Crazy Hea... Full Review
In a musical genre where emotional authenticity is essential, Bridges is a great enough actor to make us believe these songs could be his own. Full Review
It's a bit too easy, a bit too familiar, and maybe even a bit too much fun. But the easy magic Bridges brings to the screen makes it all work. Full Review
Some goodwill evaporates in the final reel, when a few false endings lead to a choice that's not the best one for Crazy Heart, but the generosity of Bridge's performance puts us in a forgiving mood. Full Review
You can see why Bridges signed on for this low-key, low-budget character study. It isn't every day an actor gets the chance to pitch face-forward into the camera, dead drunk. Full Review
Hand the Oscar to Jeff Bridges right now, and let's be done with it. Full Review
Jeff Bridges finds the perfect vehicle for his lazy charm and bitter irony in the role of Bad Blake, a washed-up country star trying to climb out of the bottle and put his life back together. Full Review
You've seen Crazy Heart before -- many, many times, actually -- but it doesn't much matter. Full Review
