Three couples endure the living hell that is the happiest day of their lives in this comic mockumentary. Confetti is the United Kingdom's most prestigious wedding magazine, and publisher Antoni (Jimmy... read more read more... Carr) and editor Vivien (Felicity Montagu) have made a career out of documenting the cutting edge in nuptial ceremonies. Antoni and Vivien have decided to stage a contest to find the most original wedding concepts in Britain; the Confetti staff will narrow the field down to three candidates, help the couples stage their weddings, and treat the grand prize winner to a major photo spread in the magazine as well as a new home worth 500,000 pounds. Before long, Antoni and Vivien announce the finalists: Josef and Isabelle (Stephen Mangan and Meredith MacNeill), fitness enthusiasts who want a tennis-themed wedding; Matt and Sam (Martin Freeman and Jessica Stevenson), whose ceremony will be inspired by Hollywood movie musicals; and Michael and Joanna (Robert Webb and Olivia Colman), a pair of naturists who seldom wear clothes and want to be nude throughout the ceremony. Veteran wedding planners Archie Heron (Vincent Franklin) and Gregory Hough (Jason Watkins) are hired to help each couple have a day they'll always remember, though they may not look back on their work with fondness. Confetti was the second theatrical feature from director Debbie Isitt; all the dialogue was improvised by the film's cast during the filming. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would! I have to say though I can't stand Jimmy Carr, Stephen Mangan or Meredith MacNeill. The three of them in one film would have prevented me from watching had I of known! This is much better than your average British comedy though (whi... read morech unfortunately, isn't saying much) and I did chuckle a few times. Franklin and Watkins steal the show, Webb and Coleman should be congratulated for baring all and Freeman and Stevenson bought a romantic realism that should also be acknowledged. Better than your average Richard Curtis and tons better than your Bridget Jones's and your Full Monty crap!!

This film I'm afraid was absolute rubbish, the worst of British Comedy
  • December 3, 2006
Weird of three wedding couples in the competition. I dislike tennis and nudity couples because they look ridiculous in their wedding bliss.

This is what happens when there is literally no script, everthing improvised.

This is definitely one of the funniest movies I've seen all year. The style is Best in Show and A Mighty Wind; except it's made by Brits and is sometimes more outrageous and comically unpredictable.

The film follows three couples in London who are in the process of getting ma... read morerried. Confetti magazine (a bridal
mag) wants to pay for their weddings...if they can come up with the most creative concept.

So, we meet a couple who wants a Broadway Melody-wedding; a couple who would adore a tennis-themed party; and another couple who want to be married in the nude (they're naturists.)

What follows is a series of events that are both outrageous and extraordinary all at once. The performances are top-notch and delivered with such deadpan reassurance, that you wonder how these people got through the scenes with a straight face.

Definitely check this one out on DVD (as I'm sure it's already gone from theatres.) And don't miss-out on one of
the funniest comedies of the year.

Undeservedly overlooked by everyone when released, this film does deserve a watch, especially if you're a fan of British comedy. It does have flaws and drags in places (especially when the tennis couple aren't on screen), but it's still an amusing and well-written mockumentary.

Wasnt sure about this one but the acting was great, the plotline fast and funny and the film was overall a good watch.

A welcome surprise. Confetti showcases some of the best of British comedy, only with everyone on lupe warm form. Each of the actors are far removed from their individual peaks - but still some laughs and warmth to be enjoyed.

An attempt of the British to make a mock-umentary like the Christopher Guest movies. Not quite there.

Altogether pretty damn funny but way too much male nudity. Oh well, it was still good. Liked it a lot.

What works for Christopher Guest's dedicated comedy troupe (and it doesn't always work) isn't so easy to imitate, especially with actors lacking in basic improv skills. Full Review

A deliciously mean and fluffy little mockumentary. Full Review

As is typical of many weddings, the planning drags, and so does the movie. Full Review

With barely a laugh to be found, Confetti takes the 'mock' right out of the mockumentary. Full Review

A British import that proves how dangerous improvisation can be when not handled with proper care. Full Review

Cute and exasperating and, in the end, not nearly lunatic enough; it's a Christopher Guest movie without the fangs. Full Review

Overall, Confetti is agreeable and appropriately daft, though occasionally tepid and contrived. Full Review

Confetti fires off the occasional good line, but it mostly just beats its jokes to within an inch of their very short lives. Full Review

The climactic scenes possess an irresistible charm, as each wedding turns out to be just perfect. Full Review

There's an affectionate tone to Confetti that makes it a serviceable time-waster.
