Madeleine Stowe, Alan Rickman

Indian-born, American-educated director Radha Bharadwaj based her allegorical thriller on the work of her husband with Amnesty International. The story concerns The Woman (Madeleine Stowe), a children... read more read more...'s book writer who, in an unspecified country, is abducted from her bed in the middle of the night and imprisoned for writing subversive literature. She declares her books to be pure fantasies, but her well-dressed inquisitor The Man (Alan Rickman) sees the books as allegorical attacks on the State. In the form of a long dialogue between The Man and The Woman, The Man, through psychological and physical torture, attempts to get The Woman to confess. But The Woman endures, refusing to buckle under to The Man's relentless interrogation. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

A brilliant movie, you'll be astounded that there were only two actors in the entire film. Rickman's best performance ever! I loved this movie. The story is a bit far fetched, but it's sorta surreal too. I highly recommend this movie.

Sadistic!Rickman porn brought to you by Amnesty International!

Really brilliant, but by no means a fun or a light film to watch because of some of the scenes (not because of what it shown, but what it left unshown) and the underlying message.

Some interesting mind games between Rickman and Stowe with some actual interrogation/torture techniques make this intriguing.

I enjoyed every minute of this, even though Rickman is a very bad man. (Maybe that is why I liked this film). It is definitely not for the normal people out there. Very twisted.

A very disturbing movie that is not graphic but more disturbing in the idea's it presents. The subjects that get talked about in this such as child abuse, sexual and physical really hit you deep down. The character Madeleine Stowe Is an author of childrens books who puts her pain ... read moreand trauma into her stories. Alan Rickman plays an interrogator who plays mind games with her when shes taken into custody for her perceived anti government stories in her books. The whole movie turns into a mind game between Rickman and Stowe and in the end it kinda leaves you not sure what to think. I'm assuming this was a play because of the focus on only two characters, so if that isn't your thing then move along. If you are into stage play type movies then this could be something you're into.It is a powerful movie that you should at least watch once because it takes you to a dark dark place and makes you think about why certain people do the things they do and what leads them to become who they are.

Disturbing....but Alan Rickman had an amazing sensual role, even though he did play a very bad guy. Props to Madeleine Stowe as well, excellent acting! I love thescene where Alan's character was eating the tomato lol, so hot

A very strange movie staring Alan Rickman and Madeleine Stowe. Both of which work well together. I love this film, but many others hated it. It is very warped, and not for those who dont like a sick twisted ending.

Stowe and Rickman. That's it. Two actors face off and have at it. There is no reason why everyone hasn't seen this film... ok, that's not fair, as it was a stumble across for me. The proceeds from this film went to Amnesty International. Cost to make must have been minimal, price... read more worth watching... depends on one's politics, I presume. Great flick, front to back.

Originally sponsored by Amnesty International, this is an interesting story of a woman who is wrongfully abducted and interrogated by a secret policeman played by Alan Richman. The movie takes place in one room with only 2 actors, and although that may seem like it could be borin... read moreg, the psychological hold that the womans captor has upon her is brilliantly written and leaves you wondering what you would do in the same predicament. It's a shame that more people haven't seen this movie. Highly recommended!

It's hard to imagine that a film set in one room, with only two actors colud be this good. This is a powerful film, about what some goverments will do to control their people. A children's author (Stowe) is kidnapped from hed bed in the middle of the night. The interviewer is ... read morebefore her, when she wakes up. Unleashing a series of physical, and psychological torture in an attempt to get her confession, is the interviewer (Rickman). This is a great story, look for it.

Strong performances by Rickman and Stowe, yet the film (about torture) fails to engage on a visceral level

Rickman and Stowe add a lot to this fascinating little mind-bender.
