This is a pretty good thriller with an interesting and original story. The performances are solid as is the script, the only real problem is that, with so many modern thrillers, due to few lead characters (4 in this case) it's never going to be a big surprise as to 'Who dunnit'. ... read more

July 23, 2009fb619846742Standard thriller with only one surprise or two but not much else. As soon as I saw Ed Harris come into play, I knew what was going to happen by the end. What elevates this film from terrible to just average is the performances by Samuel L. Jackson and Harris. Both are great in a... read more

The most enjoyable performance by Samuel L Jackson in the last few years. ?Cleaner? shows a new and interesting perspective from the crime scene and all in all was an enjoyable film with an enjoyable cast.

700th Review!
I found this film fascinating. There is no real villain and the plot is brilliant: a man who makes his living cleaning up after dead bodies becomes embroiled in a conspiracy when he realizes that he's done a job before the police were called. All the acting is st... read more -

An excellent cast of previous supporting actors heads up this film about acrime scene cleaner who accidentally cleans up a crime scene that he then can't find any information on. A bit predictable as it goes along, but the acting - especially by Sam - is top-notch. Keeps you inte... read more

Not a bad movie, just not a very good one. Fell very flat of what it could have been. I would have expected it to have a little more to it and perhaps some flashbacks to the past as that was a story that was very under told in this. Also it was fairly short running at around 85 ... read more

A reasonably good thriller with a very strong cast. Not the best story and a little predictable but fine for an evenings viewing.

Ex-police detective turned "cleaner," Sam Jackson proves once again he can make any role feel 'cool.'
This movie had a lot of promise. Decent premise, great cast (love Ed Harris and Guzman as well), but it falls apart in its transparency.
Within minutes of the open you see w... read more

A neatly contained crime whodunit with a nifty setup and an expert lead performance from Samuel L. Jackson.
Cleaner suffers from a distracting case of visual jitters and takes a CSI approach to fetishizing the messy nature of the human body. Full Review
Low-energy and grindingly mediocre, it adds a whole new dimension to Harlin's wildly uneven oeuvre: tedium. Full Review
It's not that Cleaner is a terrible film, it just doesn't rear back and sock the viewer in the jaw like a great thriller should. It's mild sauce from the first frame to the last. Full Review
...a substantial improvement over some of filmmaker Renny Harlin's more recent efforts... Full Review
The "cleaning" thing was done and done better in Curdled and in terms of a crime drama, Cleaner just doesn't measure up.
Cleaner is a watchable film, but one which feels like a missed opportunity. Full Review
