While it is more true to Stephen King's original story this film proves that that isn't necessarily a good thing since our heroes are a bickering, unlikeable couple and the ending is a downer.
Still I give it props for trying to use elements from both the original film and King'... read mores story; plus as a surprising bonus the main theme from the original film returns too.

I've liked Stephen King's Children of The Corn series since I was a kid and I was very interested when I heard that they were remaking them. The new version is different, but that's not always a good thing. It's definitely a lot more gory and frightening, which is a good thing, b... read moreut they cut a lot out of the story which was a bad thing. We aren't given any background information, characters are missing, and Isaac is so little and cute, that he isn't believable. On top of that, instead of a loving middle aged couple, we get a fighting interracial couple, in 1975, that features a Marine with PTSD and a prom queen who won't shut the fuck up! I'm glad it was a little creepier and bloodier than the original, but they cut out some of the best parts and give absolutely no background information. I felt like I was jumping into a movie after missing the first half hour, besides that, the acting was so-so, and overall the film was okay at best. In my opinion this film does not live up to the original and would have trouble rivaling some of the sequels as well.

This SyFy remake of the classic Stephen King tale fails to reach its goal with very cheesy yet boring scenes with not so brilliant acting.

I forgot that I watched this one late night recently until I saw a review from a fellow Flixtorian. Wish I had more to add but I agree with his review. The movie holds more true to the book but the original is far superior. (Maybe because as a kid it freaked me out). The adults a... read morere far less sympathetic and a darker tale is told. The inter-weaving of the book and original movie are the only reason this gets an ok review.

Not one of the best remakes out there. The characters in this couldn't come close to compare to the originals.

45 minutes watching a freaking couple fight with each other.... very stressful to watch... only a few minutes were deserving of real attention... the rest is just cheap trash.

Even more horrible than the original...the ritual sex scene was just over the top and totally unnecessary. Disgusting!

Very weird. There was a whole bizarre teen sex ceremony with all the little kids standing around hooting and hollering. It made me feel uncomfortable.

Not the best Stephen King adaptation. It's okay up to the ending and then it gets confusing and not very well explained.
Acting is good by the adults but the children (except Newman and Nikolas) are all touch and go. Sometimes they have good scenes and sometimes not so good scen... read morees.
You don't really care to much for the victims in the movie and most people will be glad when their times come because they start to get on your nerve.
I didn't find this movie very scary and was not satisfied with the ending at all.
Having not seen the original yet I can't compare the two, but I hope it's better then this.
I'll watch the DVD to see if there is any differance, but I won't watch it the next time it's on TV.

    "Say YOUR prayers brother!"

Basically, [Donald P.] Borchers' adaptation of Children of the Corn is one-part nasty bickering, two-parts boring corn chase. Full Review
