Nope, I didn't like it. And yes, the elaborate single takes annoyed and distracted me to no end. I thought the film was a murky mess.

An almost futuristic dsytopian society, yet realistic and seemingly true, Children of Men is an engaging and fraught with tension thriller that pushes the boundaries of acceptable worlds. Though many films misuse the term futuristic to include out of this world inventions, catacl... read more

"Children of Men" has breathtaking cinematography; the camerawork is reminiscent to "Saving Private Ryan" and the attention to detail reveals how colorful - though it is a world coming to its end - the world is. This is an incredible tense-filled thriller. This movie may not answ... read more

October 27, 2011fb729949618This is honestly nothing less than a masterpiece, and I rarely use that word to describe films. Don't want to spoil that much, but the themes and ideas used in this film are genius. It really gets you thinking and asking yourself what the world would be like if something like "th... read more

Based on an acclaimed novel by P.D. James, this is a film adaptation about a near future dystopia that posits a scenario that is actually (and this is what's scary) rather plausible.
It is 2027 and the world is plagued by infertility. It's been 18 years since the last child was... read more -

Children of Men blew me completely away when I first saw it, and it still does everytime I see it. Nothing compares to seeing it on the big screen with the amazing sound. It's quite an experience. Alfonso Cuaron is one of modern cinema's true greats. His body of work is sparse bu... read more

A very good bleak look at the future. A well made film, with a good cast. I found it a little slow to get going, but the modern look of London was interesting and technology. The best scene was a battle scene in a run down part of town as the activists clashed with the military. ... read more

What a tremendous and original film. I had only recorded this film on TV, and as I watched I loved it more and more. Clive Owen is a great actor, he is truly rising as one of the best. The plot keeps giving us more and more to watch and never stops being cool, its not a futuri... read more

What I find particularly irksome about it is its pseudo-humanism and its calculating political correctness. Full Review
A superior sci-fi thriller and the best doomsday drama since 28 Days Later. Full Review
Cuarón does lowdown takes on high concept better than anyone; no matter what genre he touches, he brings grit and loose-limbed humor along with the hand-held camera jangles. Full Review
Darkly poetic throughout, the film starts with an explosion and ends drifting in fog with no clear resolution in sight. How brave and oddly satisfying. Full Review
Fasten your seat belt; you're in for a bumpy, provocative ride. Full Review
You can see it now or wait 20 years until the movie has found a niche among equally visionary movies that have the capacity to compel, alarm and shake things up.
Based on a novel by British mystery writer P.D. James, Children of Men is a filmmaking feat. In the midst of mayhem, director Alfonso Cuaron delivers subtle and jarring images, while exploring complex... Full Review
