The story of an ordinary woman in an extraordinary time.

Such a different perspective on a war-time film, showing this through a strong woman?s eyes, in a man?s world. This story is essentially driven by love.

Blanchett yet again, pours emotion into her performance and is of course a believable role. I too, have to give Billy Crud... read moreup credit for his performance here which I feel is his greatest to date.

Impressive all around with a much enjoyed plot.

I got the DVD from Netflix and it had a scratch in it. Half way through it, stopped playing. I didn't bother to have them re-send a new one b/c the first half was not that interesting.

Serendipity! This relatively unknown movie -why?- is another compelling showcase of Blanchett's talent. She kept the storyline moving along and engages the audience with her wonderful camera presence. She is believable as our heroine because of her chemistry with both male intere... read morests, make resolve with her vulnerabilities, yet still able to be strong as a secret agent should and providing a motherly side, sheltering little ones from harsh truths in dangerous times.
The French countryside is beautiful & panoramic and is the backdrop during WW2-what irony to the immense tension the people were really living. The clothing, locale and props of the period feel authentic. The actors delivered their parts very well, contributing credibility to the story's basis. Charlotte Gray conveys what people undergo and learn about the world and themselves in dreadfully gripping circumstances. Realistic, moving, tear-dropping! A keeper for the library.

I think it can be called a good anti-war film. But the film as it developes just kind of lost it's focus. The ending was so melodramatic it just lost me. Opening was amazingly beautiful though. Overall, the film was very well-done, but the story just didn't grab me.

I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but it differs from the book, to make it more appealing for the mass audiences, and there's a part in it involving a doorway that kind of freaked me out.

Good movie. Haven't watched it in while, I need to re-watch if I'd want to comment on it any further.

If you have a nostalgic side ... there is much to enjoy about filmmaker Gillian Armstrong's cozy, intimate direction here, which conjures up a very specific ambiance. Full Review

The pace is so lethargic and the focus so diffuse that it's hard to get a fix on Charlotte beyond needless glamorization. Full Review

Mounts a romantic drama of the World War II era in mostly glossy, shallow terms. Full Review

If this is melodrama, it's melodrama of a superior rank, and I salute it. Full Review

While Blanchett's presence is surely felt in virtually every scene of the movie, her acting isn't. We don't connect with her at all. Full Review

Blanchett is an extraordinary actress, and she does what she can to flesh out the material. But Charlotte is one of the least active underground operatives in movie history. Full Review
