While Conners has been with the force for years, Dekker is a rookie, and it doesn't take Conners long to realize his partner has a lot to learn about the nuts and bolts of investigation. However, the two are forced to put aside their differences when they're given an important new case to crack -- a brilliant thief (Wesley Snipes) has masterminded a series of high-stakes bank heists, and the police are baffled as to how he seems to know what they're up to just as soon as they do. Chaos also stars Justine Waddell as a police officer who has become involved with one of the detectives. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

The idea is very clever and I did really like the twist, unfortunately, I saw it coming a mile away. The very end makes up for it but there is no excusing the poor script which is painful throughout and the shoddy action scenes. It would have been a far better film had they have ... read morejust concentrated on it being a Crime/heist thriller and not a mindless action film. Not a total missed opportunity but should have/could have been better. Gets three stars but only just!

Statham goes up against Snipes in this twisty thriller which turns out to be as slippy as a snake towards the end when you don't totally expect it. Its not a huge deal really as I knew Statham couldn't die in a flick haha he's not the type, but I didn't see him going bad, kinda t... read morehought he would pop up and save the day.
The film kicks off with a good short 'Die Hard' type sequence which makes it seem this film will kick ass, alas it doesn't as after that the film becomes a rather slow burning detective thriller with much talking and allot of tracking people followed by questioning. To be honest it gets very dull and loses all potential from its action man cast, the ending is a surprise yet not an original concept but its still interesting to actually see the bad guy win for once.

Had the rest of this film been as good as it's twist then I would have rated this much higher. The storyline itself was enjoyable, but somehow slumped somewhat in the middle.

An evolving performance from Ryan Phillippe, but this film was very much highs and lows with nothing ... read moremuch in the middle.

Disgraced cop (Statham) who screwed up a hostage situation, is called back into action to "negotiate" a bank hostage job orchestrated by slick operator (Snipes). He drops the ball on this one too, or does he? The heist, and spectacular escape by the perps, leaves no one dead, and... read more not a dime is missing. So what happened?

Ryan Philippe plays the talented rookie who is assigned partner with Statham, to figure out what happened. Philippe has a baby-face, but an intelligence and energy and steals every scene. He also is quite heroic. He listens to Snipes' recorded hostage recording, and figures out that he's referring to "chaos theory", in which everything that looks chaotic is actually put back together and makes sense in the end. Never mind that this is not chaos theory! It's just a way to sneak in the title and find out where to find Snipes.

Car chases, motorcycle chases, shooting, and to make matters worse, Snipes is taking out all his accomplices one by one, until the climax when Statham and Philippe (who actually have great chemistry by the way) catch up to him. Snipes is really enjoying his role as bad guy, you can tell.

But all is not as it seems, so expect a twist.

Some I know didn't like the twist, preferring a straight ending,I have to say I have mixed feelings about it. I feel the ending worked but can see where other wouldn't like it. In the end, this is a good action thriller. Worth a look

"Chaos" is an average and predictable movie. What really makes me laugh about these crime thrillers ala "Inside Man" / "Usual Suspects" is that, when they end up making a mess of a movie, the screenwriter has to put up some extra scenes where everything has to be explained. Don't... read more get me wrong, I understod from the start what was going on, so I think it's a way to underestimate the viewers intellect.

"Chaos" starts in an interesting way. But then it starts to drag a lot. The action also is below average. I expected a hell of a lot more from a movie starring Statham and Snipes.

P.S "Inside Man + "Usual Suspects" kick ass...

It's Inside Man meets Heat meets The Usual suspects. A mind-blowing and razor-sharp suspense-thriller that will keep you guessing right till the very end. A full-throttle, exciting and riveting action-packed thrill-ride. Sizzeling, smart, crackeling and well excuted in it's style. It's a real major kick of adreniline. Thribes on intelligence of it's plot and the strenghts of it's characters. Jason Statham and Ryan Phillippe are outstanding. Wesley Snipes is teriffic.

I wanted to like this more than I did. I'm a fan of Jason Statham, and I enjoy Wesley Snipes. This movie tries soooo hard to be something it's not: GOOD. The dialog was embarrassingly cheesy, and the acting was atrocious. The only redeeming factor is that the story line was a... read morectually really good. However, the dialog appeared forced...

The ending really sold the movie for me. Chaos starts off with a bang and leaves you craving answers throughout.... it slowly gives you a piece of the puzzle until it all falls into place at the end. It's very intriguing and doesn't disappoint. About 3/4 of the way thru, this movie really kicks into 4th gear and takes off... it's just a shame that it is chalk full of mediocre writing and acting. But if you can turn off the criticism for 1 hr 45 min, you can really enjoy this film.

    Think.....

Inside Man + War + Crank = Chaos

A pretty decent action film for a straight to DVD offering. It has a good cast and is entertaining enough, just a bit predictable. However most action fans will enjoy this.

This was a decent watch and really...that's about it.
I love Jason Statham and he played his usual, gruff character which, for me, never gets old, but this film was really pedestrian.
The movie pretends to be leaving you clues throughout as Phillipe's character attempts to piec... read moree it together. Phillipe kind of phoned this one in as well.
Note: If you, as a moviegoer, do not see it all coming and are actually taken by anything that transpires during the film then please...watch some more movies. Read a book. Do a crossword puzzle. Something to sharpen your inner Sherlock because this one was not only telegraphed they practically put up a bulletin board.
Total lack of realism. Fun little mystery with some nice explosions and a bank heist.
Suspend your disbelief and you might enjoy this movie for its pacing and few little nuggets here and there. Other than that...move along folks cause there ain't much else to be seen here.
