Watch Fear of a Black Hat instead. Because it's actually funny. And relevant. Even if you don't like rap. Especially if you like rap.
Leave it to Chris Rock to take a great concept and ensure there's not a single laugh-out-loud moment in the whole film, even with Phil Hartman o... read more -

Dang, is Chris Rock my fave actor??? I love comedy, and I love hip-hop, so mixing the two makes this a classic. So many scenes in this movie are worth talking about but I will just say that the "sex (comparision) scenes" and the funeral scenes, along with Charlie Murphy, really... read more

I saw this movie as a kid and saw someone get arrested during the actual showing of the movie in the theater.
I'd love to watch it again now that I have been around a lot of hip hop. -

Extremely vulgar without ever being all that funny. Recommended only if you want to take a 90-minute bath in filth.

A spoof on gangsta rap music groups. Namely NWA. Chris Rock is hilarious and they do make some good points. If you like this one check out "Fear of a black hat".

Funny comedy in the same arena as "Spinal Tap", with all kinds of cameo's and funny songs to keep you entertained...and did we mention Chris Rock???
Critic Reviews
Torn between celebration and sendup, CB4 misses its big target as often as it hits. Full Review
CB4 promises sharper satire than it actually delivers. Full Review
If your mood is loose and profane, if you speak hip-hop (or you just like hearing it) and if you think Rock is funny (he is), you'll be glad you checked this out. Full Review
As a series of ocasionally-amusing vignettes, CB4 is is fitfully entertaining. However, when everything is tied together into a cohesive whole, this movie is a colossal mess. Full Review
There's an unexpected innocence mixed in here that helps to blunt the pointed raunchiness (and political incorrectness) of the subject. Full Review
Partly scripted by Nelson George, the premier authority on hip hop, the film is not without moments of insight, and there are certainly enough gross-out gags to keep you watching. Full Review
CB4 just isn't too funny, and one gets the feeling that the filmmakers themselves lacked the resolve or coherence of vision to mock rap in any effective fashion. Full Review
An amusing look at the early days of the gangsta rappers. Full Review
