Victoria (Shannon Sossamon) has never been to Paris, but when her sister Carolyn (Pink) invites her to an upcoming party, the prospect of living it up in the most romantic city on Earth proves too powerful to resist. Shortly after arriving in Paris, Victoria and Carolyn venture deep into the 200-mile limestone labyrinth constructed with the bones of seven million Parisians. Later, after getting separated from her friends, the frightened American can't help shake the feeling that someone - or something - is stalking her every move; just waiting for the perfect moment to spring forth from the darkness. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I finally watched this movie, and unfortunately, I've regretted it ever since.

The movie is about an american who goes to visit her sister in Paris, and while they are at a party in the underground catacombs, the american is lost and is stalked by a mythical creature.

The ... read moremovie was very predictable. *WARNING MANY SPOILERS* The twists at the end, I saw coming. Twists, if correctly done, should leave the viewer speechless or shocked. The "twists" in Catacombs however did not. The first twist was that there was no mythical creature (shocker!). I saw this right from the beginning. The American girl is just paranoid about the whole thing, it was just a prank by her sister and her sister's friends. No surprise there. The second twist was when the American killed her sister, and everyone that was involved with the mythical creature prank. Surprise! Ha, not really. She had an axe in her hand- the director wouldn't have made her carry the axe around if she wasn't going to use it!

The acting was also VERY poor. All the actors could've been replaced by dogs and the movie wouldn't have changed...well it might've been more entertaining. All the characters are so unlikable. The American is obnoxious and is a scaredy cat. Just grow the hell up already. Man up, dammit. 95% of the movie is her running and screaming through the catacombs, and guess what? No one is even chasing her. You KNOW no one is chasing her, yet she continues to act like an idiot. The sister is incredibly cruel- kind of like my sister-but my sister isn't as bitchy as that. The sister, as well as the rest of her friends, are incredibly unlikable. They are rude, mean and don't really give a crap about anyone else.

The movie is very dull and boring. You know, or SHOULD know what is about to happen throughout the movie. The twists are predictable, so really they shouldn't even be considered "twists". The acting is boring and cheap- as well as the entire movie itself. If you like watching a not really attractive girl running from nothing through tunnels while screaming her ass off- then this movie is for you!

i thought this would be a good horror but it really isnt, athough the acting is good and believeable te storyline and concept is ridiculas and stupid.
and then the ending was even worse!

I think this had potential with a good location for a horror, but overall it's no where near what it could have been. If this was a short story it might have been better but even at 85mins it feels way too long. The majority of the film features the girl running and screaming thr... read moreough tunnels in the darkness.....followed by more running through dark tunnels! The twist ending did start to become a bit obvious, well the first part anyway, and it has been done much better in many other horrors. If you did like this check out the more like this section.

Christ this Movie is one the movies I ll never understand why it was made at first place. The Idea with Catacombs was Brilliant but they ruined the Movie.

The first 30 minutes were promising, but the rest was frustrating and uninspiring.

OK, so I didn't expect much out of this film. Take that statement and my rating and you will see if this is worth your time or not.

Catacombs is marketed as a horror/suspense. I guess this movie fits into that category, but ... it is somewhat different. The plot is em

... read morepty. I don't know what else to say about it. The first 30 minutes is crap. You have the two main characters getting ready for a party and then actually going to that party. At one point during this time, one of the many small characters gives a 1 minute spiel that sets up the next hour of the movie. It is stupid and bland, but it does its job.

The last 5-10 minutes is the best part of the film. So, what takes place in the 50 minutes before that. Running. Shannyn Sossamon has this film all to herself. Nothing exciting. Just running. At least this all happens in the catacombs, which makes the title appropriate. I guess the good thing about the film taking place down there is that it is dark and because of this the lighting effects and shots are pretty good.

You will probably hear a bunch of people praise the ending. Half of it is predictable, while the other half isn't. It is the unpredictable half that everybody will hint at and I have to admit, it is unexpected. Is it worth watching this movie for? I think not. Then again, that is for you to decide.

The acting isn't award winning. There are 2 big names in this film. Shannyn Sossamon and Alecia Moore (Pink). Everybody else is forgettable. Shannyn does a pretty good job at screaming, crying, and whatever else it takes to be in a movie like this. Running around in a dress the whole time doesn't hurt either. Pink actually does a decent job with her character, but unfortunately she doesn't do much.

This film isn't scary, but it is suspenseful. Unless you are a huge fan of these types of movies or Shannyn Sossamon, stay away from this.

Truth be told it had a pretty good lesson, but this couldve been made a lot shorter. It reminded me of another annoying movie called "creep". It doesnt share the same plot but all that running and panic! panic! pani... read morec mode really irritated me, it lacked so many elements. At some point I was wondering if I should just watch another movie, but continued anyway thinking that there might be something worth watching about it. Well.. I was suprised that Pink could actually act. It wasnt an award winning performance but she was actually pretty good.... Or maybe she fitted the role really well cuz it was so close to her "stage persona" in the music industry.

There is something to get out of this tho, if youre the type who dreams about running all the time from something, maybe you should give this movie a shot. If you get bored just fast forward the running scenes, lol!

There was potential there, and personally I rather liked the twist (if only because I hated all the other characters, particularly the sister, almost as if they were real people) but all the running in dark tunnels has been done to death before - Creep, The Descent, The Cave.... ... read more
But at least you can get a laugh out of Sossamon's pronunciation of 'Henri' as 'Henry'. That was grating and awful.

Not the best film put out by Lions Gate, but not the worst. Twisted ending, not sure it will find its way into my collection. In a 4 movie Marathon might want to play this second or third, as you will lost peoples interest along the way.
