As a fan of the book series and the A&E/ITV miniseries...I enjoyed this film. It wasn't as entertaining as either...and the miniseries took its time more carefully with the characters, but this is a decent adaptation with a lot going on and some vibrant technicolor.

This is one of my favorite moves. This one actually picks up where the A&E Horatio Hornblower series left off.

Yeah, it's a little cheesy. But it's not at all boring, Gregory Peck seems to be having the time of his life, and as a true Hornblower fan... it was gratifying. Do watch.
