A cozy coffeehouse serves as the setting for director John Cosgrove's over-caffeinated tale of sexual peccadilloes and complicated relationships starring Mena Suvari, Katherine Heigl, and Breckin Meye... read more read more...r. It's a typical lunch hour in London, and The Black Cat Café is fast filling up with patrons whose sexual lives have become a tangled web of infidelity, kinky idiosyncrasies, and betrayal. Stoned on some of the most potent weed in jolly old England, a neurotic young commitment-phobe attempts to keep his cool when he has an unexpected run-in with his bitter ex-girlfriend. But he's not the only one whose secrets are about to come out today, because after a shy young lady is forced to fend off a boorish blind date whose preconception of her couldn't be more wrong, a possessive boyfriend discovers that his current girlfriend was once a well-known adult film star. Later, after a fragile old lady mistakes a patron for the ex-husband she once found in a compromising position with a kinky prostitute and a high-powered attorney discovers that her husband-to-be likes to dress in ladies' clothes, the manager's boyfriend claims that a recent ménage à trois is perfectly forgivable since it was conducted with a pair of identical twins. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I feel guilty rating this a three in case anyone actually thinks it's good and rents it out on my recommendation! However, it did manage to hold my attention, maybe due to the horror of Mena Suvari and an "uglifed" Katherine Heigl, doing really bad English accents. Why they didn... read more't just leave this set in the US and use their own accents, I have no idea, it would have worked just as well, and there was no real reason for it to be set in the UK anyhow! I rated it a three because that's kind of my "average" rating, and I did find it interesting enough to watch it all the way through, (which I originally doubted I would be able to do!), and found it okay even with the bad acting, bad accents and bad story! Rent at your own risk!

funny brit comedy about the happenings of a busy understaffed cafe. Adequate though a bit contrived. I liked the fiance/fiancee/alibi customers best :)

Caffeine is sort of a cross between Friends and Waiting, only not as gratifying.
The story is the day in the life, so to speak, of the patrons and staff of The Black Cat Cafe.
I do enjoy seeing Breckin Meyer in movies, he won my heart in Clueless. Mena Suvari is pretty, and she... read more had killer hair in this film. You also get to see Kathrine Heigl, looking sort of plain.
The story was mildly amusing, with a couple of enjoyable visual fantasies. But all in all, the whole movie was lacking something. It split off into too many directions and was kind of disorganized in parts.
Some of the characters in this film were entertaining, and there were moments I laughed, but over all I was a little bored. Some of the English accents were not very solid, and some were all together a mess.
Caffeine wasn't horrible, but I think with a few improvements it could have been really good. I can see the direction that John Cosgrove was shooting for, unfortunately he missed the target with this one.
If you have nothing else to do, and there is nothing on TV, Caffeine may mildly amuse you and occupy your time.

Really good movie. Really interesting and funny. So many things happening at once. This movie was really fun to watch. Great movie. Great seeing Katherine Heigl and Mike Vogel.

It had alot of actors that I had seen before in great movies, and some that I like as actors, but this movie blowed such a waste of good talent

This is an English independent film. It has really funny moments. It, also, has a lot of scenes where there is nothing but fast paced English dialogged. Somewhere around 40 minutes in it was starting to make me sleepy. Soon after the movie started wrapping up the different sto... read morerylines and it picked up.

This was a cute little story about a day in a cafe. It was catoic at times, but I liked it and it was really funny!

The claustrophobic and poorly executed Caffeine is either a play in search of a movie or a movie in search of a play but, either way, it's searching for the wrong thing.
