BULLETS OVER BROADWAY is filled with good, but overrated performances. It's surprisingly slow-paced (and I say surprisingly, because nobody expects a crime comedy to be this slow) and, at only 100 minutes, it feels so long.
On the bright side, the art direction and costume des... read more -

Despite the fact that I spent the entire movie thinking that Dianne Wiest was Olive and Helen was Jennifer Tilly (of which I feel like a huge dumbass, thank you very much), this movie contains all elements that I love of Woody. The coldness that hits your bones when another layer... read more

Likeable low-key 20s gangster comedy penned by Woody Allen in which John Cusack proves he makes a much more likeable protaganist than the man himself. The cast are uniformly good, although I found the lauded over Diane Wiest rather irritating. Cusack is excellent as ever though. ... read more

Update: I love this movie. It's exceptionally well acted for a comedy, save... read more

A backstage comedy bolstered by healthy shots of prohibition gangster melodrama and romantic entanglements. Full Review
Mr. Allen has drawn on autobiographical specifics in other films, but this may be the one in which he speaks most seriously from the heart. Full Review
One of Allen's best and most revealing comedies, as much a moral meditation as it is dazzling fun.
Has more laughs packed into its exquisitely orchestrated 99 minutes than anything [Allen's] done in nearly 20 years.
Woody Allen at his best -- a gem of a Broadway fable with a crafty premise, a raft of brilliant actors at the top of their form and a bouncy, just-for-pleasure attitude. Full Review
The most insightful and deliciously droll look at show business since Robert Altman skewered Hollywood in 1992's The Player. Full Review
Buzzes with classic one-liners, bright performances and off-the-cuff contemplations about love, art and death. Full Review
The most substantive, accessible -- not to mention the funniest -- film that the prolific writer-director has made in years. Full Review
