Excellent film. One of those films that I'll admit I wanted to hate, because of the controversial topic, but I can't...it is great. Everything about it is wonderful; the story, characters, the acting, the music, the direction. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent performances from ... read more

Brokeback Mountain is a genius film that is controversial, dramatic, and is one of the best romantic films of all time. The storyline is about two men who meet during a job on Brokeback Mountain, and they fall in love but are afraid to admit it to the world. The plot is not you... read more

A drama with a beautifully scripted story. All the negativity this film gets is just heartbreaking. Yes, it's about a gay relationship, but Ledger and Gylenhaal make it seem so real from trhe start to the end. Both men find women that bond with, but the love they express for each... read more

A little overrated. But still a good movie. A good story. Some good acting. Average directing. Maybe a little too long. Jake Gyllenhaal is allright...

A woebegone tale of two ill fated lovers marched into a day and age that is not only unaccepting, but plainly bitter and one sided. Great performances by Ledger, Williams, and Hathaway as each was a caricature of unavailable or blind (even star crossed) love. Meanwhile Gyllenhaal... read more

An absolute jewel to kick off 2006. In many ways, Brokeback marked the year's turn towards intelligent 'issue' films, something that has been sorely missing from Hollywood for years. Indeed, the very style and nature of this affecting love story evokes the integrity of 70s dramas... read more

Phew... Some more boring stuff, but relatively bearable than 'A Single Man'. The awful way Heath Ledger speaks only made it worse for me. Maybe his character required to be that way, but still. 3.5/10.

Ang Lee continues to astonish.
Both [Gyllenhaal and Ledger] embody what that old Waylon and Willie song taught us -- 'Cowboys ain't easy to love, and they're harder to hold.' Full Review
A sweeping, solemn, self-serious chronicle of their relationship over several decades. Full Review
It has become shorthand to call Brokeback Mountain the 'gay cowboy movie,' but it is much more than that glib description implies. This is a human story, a haunting film in the tradition of the great ... Full Review
A film about love and the cost of lying that's exquisite in its beauty, painful in its truths. Full Review
The movie has a universal quality because it tells a story of unfulfilled lives and roots it in the well-observed specifics of a vanishing Western culture.
Like these indelible cowboys, you, too, may find it impossible not to succumb to the powerful, quiet greatness that is Brokeback Mountain. Full Review
Brokeback Mountain the power to break your heart -- and, perhaps more important, to open it. Full Review
With its measured pace and its sumptuous visuals, transforming a taboo into a romantic totem, this opening act is fascinating, like watching Red River with the subtext cranked way up. Full Review
