Kim: Something happened to us in the woods... something evil.
"The terror continues..."
Book of Shadows: The Blair Witch 2 has to be the worst horror sequel I have ever seen. It's worse than Jason X, it's worse than Halloween 3. In saying that, I'm also sort of happy in a way,... read more -

One of the absolute worst films I've ever seen. The saddest part is that I was among those poor, poor fools who actually paid to see this tripe in the theater.

Good, but at times confusing. The ending is also rather abrupt. It's an interesting take on the media hype surrounding the first, but its success as social commentary is limited. Take it as another B-movie style tie in and it will satisfy you more.

The sequel to the freak hit of 1999 follows the misadventures of five tourists who search the woods for evidence showing that the first film was factual. Less inept than the original, this one raises the would-be franchise to the level of any other hackneyed slasher flick.

Really bad movie but it has an interesting DVD. There are hidden images all through the movie for you to look for.
Critic Reviews
A plausible premise, visual tricks and a little blood don't help this sequel to rise above largely formulaic territory. Full Review
The real problem here may be that Blair Witch 2 was made simply -- and only -- because Blair Witch made a lot of money.
Feels like a big teaser for next year's Blair Witch 3.
For all its clever notions, Book of Shadows often seems more like a montage of pasted-together images than a coherent horror story. Full Review
Though BW2 eschews the first film's jumpy visuals, its erraticism as a narrative is even worse. Full Review
The execution isn't quite up to the movie's ambition. Full Review
The inevitable sequel, Blair Witch 2: Book Of Shadows is upon us. Woe betide us all. Full Review
Book of Shadows isn't going to scare anyone except the bean counters at Artisan who are counting on a big financial return. Full Review
