The boiling point is mighty low in this tepid action programmer. Wesley Snipes plays Jimmy Mercer, a Treasury agent whose sting operation goes bad. As punishment, Jimmy is exiled to Newark, where he is given seven days to find the man responsible for the death of the officer. Meanwhile, slimy con-man Red (Dennis Hopper) has Ronnie deceived into thinking that Mercer is a big-time crook with influential connections. Red does this to enlist Ronnie's aid to participate in a third-rate crime spree. When Ronnie and Red begin their two-man crime wave, Jimmy is in relentless pursuit behind them. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

It's a fun movie and has some pretty cool moments including the Principal from Breakfast Club getting shotgunned in the face and run over twice by a deranged Viggo Mortensen. However, this really suffers from not knowing who their main character is. Wesley Snipes is definitely ma... read morerketed as the good guy action hero, but it's almost as if there is just as much time spent humanizing Dennis Hopper. It just makes the movie feel uneven when it could have been a really straightforward action extravaganza.

A unremarkable movie. Cops bend the rules a bit to catch the bad guy.

Average action of Wesley Snipes I ever watched.
  • February 28, 2007
Utterly run-of-the-mill action/crime drama that's very low on ideas or invention of any kind. Completely forgettable.

    good old school snipes

I wouldn't put this flick on the same level as Passenger but it's a good film. I find it very entertaining.

Maybe I would have given a better rating if 1. you would have "told" us that it was in a different language. 2. Given us the option of choosing to watch a foreign film.

Pretty good crime drama about a drug dealer/hustler who kills an undercover cop. Dennis Hopper is a great actor. A young Vigo Mortensen is also in the movie.

Treasury agent [Wesley Snipes] and mobster [Dennis Hopper] Even a fine cast and a good performances from Wesley Snipes can't do much to breathe life into this thin gangster piece.

So slow-moving and lacking in excitement that it's torture to sit through. Full Review

Surprisingly tepid, especially considering the flick's title.

Promoted like an action movie, but there's one problem -- this movie has no action!

Though it is being sold as if it's a sequel to Wesley Snipes' Passenger 57, Boiling Point never percolates. In fact, it hardly works its temperature up to tepid. Full Review
