DiCaprio, Hounsou and Connelly all shine in one of the best films ive seen in a long time. Just kept me glued to my set the whole time i watched this. This was a great film.

A fisherman caught up in the civil war of Sierra Leone reluctanctly teams up with an amoral smuggler to retrieve a precious stone in the hope that it will secure freedom for his family. Edward Zwick has made a career of making worthy adventure-with-a-message movies which have ten... read more

Very good story which despite a few bumps had me interested all the way through. It was slightly too long but the performances were good enough to watch it.

I believe that Edward Zwick is a severely underrated director. What he has crafted with Blood Diamond is an important film on the topic of conflict diamonds. The film is brilliantly acted by its actors, Leonardo DiDiCaprio, Jennifer Connelly and Djimon Hounsou.Blood Diamond expos... read more

Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Connelly, and Djimon Hounsou plays the movie beautifully, but what makes the movie really good is their story that is (I believe) inspired by the true event. The situation in Sierra Leone might be better today, but we could probably still found the con... read more

hits up on some sensitive topics... with blockbuster-explosive action which ruins the movie in my opinion. Good movie with great performances.

DiCaprio proves himself the most watchful and watchable actor of his age. Full Review
[Director Zwick] is craftsman enough that the pace never slackens, the chase scenes thrill, and the battle scenes sicken. And if it makes viewers think twice about buying their sweethearts that hard-w... Full Review
Thanks to Mr. DiCaprio's raffishly dashing soldier of fortune, the movie is worth watching. Full Review
Blood Diamond is redeemed by its solid performances. Chiefly from DiCaprio, who is having a great year, and Hounsou, who is dignity incarnate. Full Review
Some might argue that the Connelly role serves as the film's conscience. That may have been the intent, but as with a lot of things intended with Blood Diamond, the audience isn't made to feel it. Full Review
DiCaprio is terrific, but he can't save this lecture from the shame of using Africa as a vehicle for another white man's redemption.
Africa has long been exploited by the West: for ivory, for gold, for diamonds, for oil. And, more recently, for, and by, Hollywood.
Director Edward Zwick is the Ron Howard of action films. Glory, Courage Under Fire, Legends of the Fall, all gorgeous looking, nicely written, well-acted and thought-provoking movies with violent sett... Full Review
It all pays off in the second half, as the characters are fleshed out in ways that didn't at first seem possible. The actors go beyond playing types and enter the world of three-dimensional people. Full Review
