This low-rent Disney comedy mines the Home Alone territory for labored laughs. Brian Bonsall stars as the eleven-year-old Preston Waters, who is low-kid on the family totem pole -- his father Fred (Ja... read more read more...mes Rebhorn) lectures him on saving his money, while his older brothers, Ralph (Michael Faustino) and Damian (Chris Demetral), are pushy bullies. The final insult arrives when Preston is invited to a friend's birthday party -- held at an amusement park -- and Preston doesn't have enough money to go on any of the good rides. Preston wishes to the gods in heaven that he had his own money. At that point, on-the-lam criminal Quigley (Miguel Ferrer) takes his cue and runs over Preston's bike with his car. Eager to leave the scene before the cops arrive, Quigley hurriedly gives Preston a half-written check and vamooses. Preston looks down at the check and notices that the amount has not been filled in, so he obligingly completes the transaction by adding six zeroes and a one -- for a million dollars in cold cash. This amount, by a strange coincidence, happens to be the exact amount that Quigley has deposited in a money-laundering bank run by his partner-in-crime Biderman (Michael Lerner). Preston goes to the bank, cashes the check, and purchases a neighborhood mansion with all the toys he has ever dreamed of owning. But Quigley and his gang want the money back, and they are on their way to Preston's new home for a housewarming he will never forget. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

Blanch Check is yet another one of those childhood films that you look back years later, and wonder, "how did I love this crap?" obviously as a kid, you think that it's a great film, and re-watching it as an adult, going through your childhood favorites, you think that the film w... read moreill bring a sense of nostalgia. Unlike many other childhood films, looking back at Blank Check, the film hasn't stood the test of time as so many other childhood favorites. The film is poorly conceived and doesn't belong among other childhood classics. The film may appeal to a young audience of course, but this isn't a film that you can exactly call a "childhood favorite" as it really isn't a film that you'd find yourself rewatching again and again. Blank Check is a bad film that is poorly conceived with a bad plot and bad acting. Director Rupert Wainwright directs a pitiful film that isn't satisfying or fun. Unlike other childhood films which I enjoyed, and still enjoy as an adult, Blank Check is a film that really hasn't stood out among the rest. I didn't like the film back then, and most certainly don't like it now. The film is poorly directed, and thought it may have had a good idea for a plot. The way it turns out is bad. In the hands of a better director, Blank Check might have been a fun, entertaining film, and been a childhood classic. Unfortunately this is an awful film that doesn't do anything special to really entertain you. Avoid this film.

I loved this movie when I was a kid, we all wanted to be millionaires and buy all the coolest toys when we were young, and this is a movie where a kid actually gets his wish! It's a really cool Disney TV movie, and I recommend watching it just because it's so fun.

I saw this as a kid and the concept was awesome.

This has been the movie that somehow I end up referencing all the time. Maybe it's because i've seen it way too many times, I blame the Disney channel on that. However, there's something very intriguing about this dream-like scenario for kids. Who wouldn't jump at the chance to l... read moreive in a mansion and have Art from the Burbs drive you around like a king. It's incredibly reflective of the 90s, where parents were completely non-compassionate when it comes to the needs of their children.

One of the worst films to pass itself off as family entertainment features a flirtatious woman, a rich kid no one questions, and a brutal series of gags.

One of those smart-aleck kid adventures that manages to be entirely obnoxious with very little effort.
