The storyline may not always be sterling in a Jet Li movie, but one thing you can say for sure: Once Jet Li starts rocking in his purist martial arts action, there are few more stunning practitioners. See this maybe a whole lot less for the story than to see Li when he starts t... read more

This is such a weird movie and I've seen my fair share of weird movies before. Maybe it's the combination of stylized action, gore, british dubbing and 80s feel to it. I really wasn't expecting it to be what it was. Jet Li looks like Kato from the Green Hornet and more or less is... read more

3.5 stars of 5 for Black Mask. This Jet Li movie is interesting, high action and a good story. Plenty of Hong Kong wire-work fight scenes. A small tribute to Bruce Lee's "Kato" character of the Green Hornet fame. What can you say, it is a Jet Li movie and I like Jet Li! Oh, this ... read more

Lots of cheese, some crack-ups and soda pop thrills. Not bad at all for some diversion between thought-provoking fare.

They needed to think this one through a little more before commiting it to film.
You could watch it on mute and still be blown away by the action bits.
Weak plot, no logic, and bad dubbing to boot. But "Black Mask" has one of the highest energy quotients you'll find in any action thriller around.
"Black Mask" (Hak hap) is an all-out non-stop Hong Kong action film that is better than most films of the martial arts genre. Full Review
it's paced well, Jet kicks a lot of bootie, it has romance, betrayal and a sense of humor. Full Review
The action sequences, hyperkinetic almost to a fault, make you forget they're saying really cheesy things that you hope were mistranslated. Full Review
Nicely gets the job done as either a showcase for Jet Li's athletic talents or an undemanding blast of action and mayhem. Full Review
