This attempts to do for "Psycho" what "Disturbia" did for "Rear Window", update it for a teen audience, but where the latter film succeeded this fails miserably.
Quaid is cast against type as a deranged mortician who lives with the corpse of his wife. When a bunch of uncharismat... read more -

I saw a preview on the on demand and got it from blockbuster. It is horribly written, acted and directed. Quaid has never been so horrible as a crazed mortician. One of the most horrible films I have seen recently

Dennis Quad plays a deranged mortician which is a pretty interesting role for him. Sadly the movie itself is not interesting at all.

March 13, 2012fb677587177The plot isn't strong here, and the ending is laughable. But I really like the idea of Dennis Quaid as a villain, and even though it's far from being the greatest movie I've ever seen, I was pretty entertained. You can't go into it expecting too much, but it's not a complete waste.

I actually really liked this movie, its definitely not a horror movie. Good acting and an ok plot, not many scares or even a couple but the movie is just a fun Saturday night movie to watch.

Dennis Quaid goes Psycho in dull Texas-set thriller. Full Review
At times it seems the simple ineptitude of "Beneath the Darkness" surely must mask some undercurrent of deeper sophistication and intention on behalf of the filmmakers. Alas, as it turns out, such thi... Full Review
Even Dennis Quaid's uncharacteristic hamming as a mad mortician in a small Texas town can't save this silly, scare-free horror film... Full Review
The screenplay gets nothing out of the claustrophobic terror of being locked up in that narrow grave, and the "mystery" is obvious from the start. Full Review
A malformed, would-be horror shocker with a deliriously deranged performance by Dennis Quaid, who unfortunately seems to be the only one onboard who thinks he's in a comedy. Full Review
Someone involved with "Beneath the Darkness" has either watched too many horror movies or not enough. Full Review
[Quaid] needs to resist hamming it up in Z-movies like "Beneath the Darkness," which are beneath him and pretty much everyone else. Full Review
Doesn't even have the pulse-pounding excitement of a second-tier Scooby-Doo mystery. Full Review
