"Action & Adventure, Mystery & Suspense, Comedy"... That's how Flixster would categorize "Bait". Well, this film fits none of the previous mentioned genres. I would categorize it to the genre called 'crap'...
It's hard to imagine that the star of this film is Jamie Foxx, the Aca... read more -

Bait is goofy silly, but it's very well done and one of Jamie Foxx's best movies in my opinion. I laughed my but off. If you liked movies like Held Up and Any Given Sunday... then this is right up your alley. It's classic goofy humor combined with a courageous love story. Everyon... read more

An early turn for Foxx's career. Probably forgotten by now, but I've resurrected it, mwa ha ha ha ha ha! Indeed, it could be forgetable, but I will have to say it is a decent thriller, moreso than the overhyped crap spewed out nowadays.

Critic Reviews
Fuqua has enveloped the luckless Jamie Foxx ... in a stylishly inept mess of a movie; a film as badly flawed in concept as it is incoherent in execution.
If the movies that make 'best lists' are filet mignon, the culinary comparison here probably is bait.
Ultimately, it's Foxx's insistence on filling any dead air with wisecracks that spoils Bait.
He's hilarious, but through the jokes, you get the sense Foxx knows he deserves better.
Instead of a tiger in its tank, this vehicle for Foxx has a lot of formula.
It's just respectable trash, and a dress rehearsal for better things ahead. Full Review
Bait makes a fatal mistake, one this kind of movie should never make unless it actually is The Matrix or Terminator 2: Judgment Day: It's long. Full Review
Blending comedy and action is a formula that works when both elements are strong, as in, say, Beverly Hills Cop or 48 Hours. In Bait, this isn't the case. Full Review
Director Antoine Fuqua ... serves up every cliche in the book. Full Review
