Somewhat unsurprisingly, given their mutual taste for homicide, the two women quickly become kindred spirits and decide to spend some wacky time together until "the 13th," when Nadine has to keep an appointment. Lots of sex, violence, and dead men follow, as do the police, who are breathing down the women's necks like an overly persistent bad date. Baise-Moi was a hit in France, where it endured a ratings controversy due to its extremely graphic content. All of the sex acts in the film were performed by its actors, most of whom had extensive experience in the adult entertainment industry. ~ Rebecca Flint Marx, Rovi

Strange to say, that this story in plot is quite like that of Thelma & Louise, it's very explicit nature though gives it a very controversial edge.

The acting is pretty good and in some ways, this film could stand easily on it's own without the controvsial sexually explicit sc... read moreenes and fairly extreme violence.

In fairness this film won't be for everyone! Is it art? Is it porn? Many will not be willing to watch it to find out, many will want to watch it for that reason.

It?s just Sex and violence. It pushes the boundaries of censorship but at the end of the day, if you want porn, get a porn film and if you want violence, get Natural Born Killers. This isn't worth it!

Graphically hardcore. The story of two young women who go on a cross-country crime spree. Makes Thelma and Louise look like a lighthearted Disney movie.

ome films are made to just be provocative. Add some sex sequences and some violence and you get a wave of anger and insult in response of what the director wanted to point out. Baise Moi is a masterpiece which should be seen by consentant adults ready to face reality and who want... read more to live open minded. Yes this film is X rated for adults only but it is not pornographic !!! It is just to tough for young audiences. Baise Moi belongs to these Feature-Realism category where you find Cassavetes, Godard and others. You get in touch with the truth of what these people live, breath and feel. It tells the story (which could be real !) of two women in a world where being a women souds like hell. What about feeling compassion for Serial Killers ? What about understanding how a human being could turn himself into a monster ? What would our life mean if it doesn't worth anything to anybody ? This film shows you what you are not ready to watch and hear. This film connects you with these people frightenning us everyday and against who we protect ourselves without hearing the sound of their sufferings. It's tough, brutal, rough and so true ! Rape yourself and learn ! I want to thank the two directors and the actresses. They are more than gifted and deserve a great future !

This is a film that deals with the ideas of losing one's humanity, our views on sex and violence, and the obliteration of the soul. Nadine and Manu have been so harmed by the world that they become monsters, killing with blind rage. They are the epitome of random violence. Thinki... read moreng they have found power in their murders and sex, the two women are still slaves to their pasts and their own self-images. In essence this is sort of a mean-spirited feminist film.

There are a lot of interesting things that are going on in the film, and really, for two women that had seemingly not done a "regular" film before, both leads are very good. It's a shame the movie isn't.

I didn't know this French thriller should be too pornographic. Two French porn actresses were hottest in their sexually explicit scenes. The truth is I finally watched this French film on the first week of release before it got banned in the next 1 week later.
The resemblance to... read more Thelma and Louise however, ends with that; the sex is unusually graphic (and in copious supply) as is the violence (a lot of stomping to death, and a lot of blood and other organic matter splattering after bullet impact). In the club scene was too creepy and sicko.

Crap, And I'm not talking about the pointless explicit sex scenes, The script,Acting & everything else is just terrible
  • December 21, 2007
Take 'Thelma and Louise' mix it with 'Natural Born Killers' and throw in porn and there you have this rather odd, violent French film.
Its not awful but it's far too anarchic to be engaging.

Ok, so it's more like an uncensored reality television version of "Thelma and Louise" than a real hardcore porn ...but it still has lots more sex and violence than most people will be used to. Only one moment is truly gratuitous though and this is possibly the only film where the... read more porn elements are not merely padding but are an integral part of the story.

A review snippet from the front of the DVD cover sums up my overall feeling of the movie - "The most extreme Thriller you'll ever see legally!" With scenes of explicit sex, bloody merciless violence and the most shockingly disturbing rape scene you're ever likely to see. I'm amaz... read moreed this movie got passed the BBFC with only 12 seconds of cuts, which was 10 seconds to actual penetration during the rape sequence and 2 seconds of a gun barrell being pushed up a guys anus! Even with these cuts there's still plenty of controversial material that would have warranted an out right ban a few years ago in the UK.

The story is set in France and consists of two young women who befriend eachother after escaping their lives of misery and decide to go on a joy-ride of sex, crime and cold-blooded killing. Simple as that.

With a budget of next to nothing, an unknown cast of French porn actors and a grainy home video type picture, don't go into this expecting to see anything of high calibre. It's amateur in all departments, but in a way it's amateurness gives the film a depressingly gloomy realism to it. The acting isn't as bad as I thought it would be, I feel the two lead actresses did the best job they possibly could. But the downbeat nature of the film doesn't make for very comfortable viewing. It's just one graphic sex scene and one bloody murder after another. No real solid story to it at all.

Absolutely the wrong movie to pick to watch with your girlfriend/Wife on a romantic night in.... you may become a victim of female violence yourself if you decide to take that risk. But I'd say it's worth a look just for the experience of seeing a movie like this which doesn't come along too often.

The mix of real sex and fake-looking violence in this 2000 French feature is curiously unprovocative. Full Review

Baise-Moi is like a cheapie, vintage American exploitation movie, only one that goes so far beyond the bounds of taste that its affrontiveness becomes in large part what the film is about. Full Review
