Stars Martin Lawrence and Will Smith return along with director Michael Bay and producer Jerry Bruckheimer for this sequel to the 1995 sleeper hit Bad Boys, the film that sparked the careers of both a... read more read more...ctors, as well as Bay. Once again, Lawrence and Smith play hotshot, wisecracking Miami narcotics officers Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey. This time around, Burnett and Lowrey have been assigned to head up a task force to investigate the illegal trafficking of ecstasy into the city. They discover that an underground gang war has been instigated by drug kingpin Johnny Tapia (Jordi Molla). In order to cut off the flow of the designer drug, they have to take down Tapia. Unfortunately, there's a wrench thrown into the gears in the form of Burnett's sister Syd, whom Lowrey takes a liking to and begins a relationship with. Tensions rise between the partners, threatening both their friendship and the investigation and putting Syd in harm's way. Also returning from the first film are Joe Pantoliano as Captain Howard, Theresa Randle as Burnett's wife Theresa, and former-NBA star John Salley as 'Hacker' Fletcher. Among the supporting players new to this entry in the series are Peter Stormare and musician, spoken-word artist, and sometimes-actor Henry Rollins. ~ Matthew Tobey, Rovi

I dont think it's a coincidence that I had a huge headache after sitting through the loud, noisy, explosion infested and above all idiotic Bad Boys 2 but I can easily conclude why. First of all this film... read more proves everything thats wrong with Hollywood today. Big budgets and massive stars dont make decent popcorn movies. A story and some likable characters would do it for me among most people. But this lowest common denominator action flick is just lightning paced, charmless, witless, thrill free and heartless drivel that's badly directed by Michael Bay and follows the same formula as the first film and I mean doesn't do anything new whatsoever. With even more explosions, bad acting and Michael Bay's typically pointless upskirt shots. It's supposed to be an action film yes, but it lacks any form of power and consequently the film is just completely boring.

After the below average Armageddon and the terrible Pearl Harbor, Michael returns to form with the sequel to his directorial debut. This sequel takes the first film and injects steroids that doubles everything. Doubles the comedy and the action. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence ... read morestill retain that dynamite chemistry, with better comedy material to boost. The action is bigger, louder, and a lot more explosive. The film's highway chase sequence is one of the best action sequences committed to film. The film is essentially non stop action, but with its slightly bloated time length, it may get tiring for some. If you are not into the hardcore comedy style, then this is not the film for you. The music is also very good, although it does sound similar to Speed at times. This film maybe dumb, but it is a very entertaining dumb movie.

Sequel to the lame, unimpressive Bad Boys is a terrific mess of a film that has nothing good going on, on screen. The film lacks power, and knows it's an action film, but this is terrible. The performances are bad and the directing is plainly awful. I really don't know why Bad Bo... read moreys II was made. I always felt that this was a poor attempt at creating a buddy cop action comedy, and it fails. The talent, if you can call it that is wasted on screen. The plot is terrible, and the actions scenes are sloppy. In Michael Bay's long illustrious cinematic career, there has been only two films of his that truly delivered. Bad Boys and this sequel isn't one of them. I absolutely hated this film and it was really bad. The acting and script were terrible. I view these films as a rip off of the Lethal Weapon films, though the Lethal Weapon films weren't excellent, in fact they were cheesy, at least most of them had an elaborate plot. Something that these two films lack. I hated this film, and I thought it was pointless to make. This is yet another Michael Bay that is totally and poorly conceived. Some of the cast actually do have talent, Peter Stormare, Joe Pantoliano and Will Smith are great, but the rest? Oh man, could they use acting school. Bad Boys II may entertain, but the films finished result is one that lacks real spark that has some of the cop genre so special in the first place.

Strictly a money maker. Alot of arguing and blah blah blah, but pretty funny and entertaining none the less.

This basically doubles everything that made the first movie so fun and entertaining. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence come back this time with a vengeance. After all, this shit gets real. Their chemistry together is just as good, if not better. The friendship is so believable and p... read moreretty unique within the realm of buddy cop scenarios. Michael Bay continues is legacy of destruction with this extravaganza of shoot-outs, explosions and general mayhem. The plot is really cool this time around and that was definitely important, due to the fact that we already know these characters. Having such a kingpin and downright evil villain makes this all the more easy to bite into. Both of these movies have a great sense of blending comedy with extremely realistic violence and crazy stunts. They're fun movies that are easy to enjoy over and over.

Bad Boys II is really a mixed bag. The reason for this is because the film almost plays completely like a checklist. Let me explain. If you're not familiar with the original Bad Boys, that film worked mainly because of the chemistry between Martin Lawrence and Will Smith. Their c... read moreharacters may not have been the most original addition to the buddy cop genre, but it was nevertheless fun to watch them on screen. Add to that some expertly staged action sequences, and Joe Pantoliano's Captain Howard, who gives the film a lot of great comic relief by chewing out Lawrence and Smith for their reckless antics, and Bad Boys was a solid and memorable action picture.
So Bad Boys II is more of the same. The film is a pattern of scenes. One features Smith and Lawrence banter, then we see the villain being bad, the next is an explosive action scene followed by Captain Howard yelling and screaming. The film pretty much rotates these scenes for 147 minutes.
This is a bad thing if you like your movies intelligent and with a compelling story. Bad Boys II has neither. It's a turn off your brain action picture that only works if you like Martin Lawrence and Will Smith. I like these two actors. I particularly like Will Smith. He is one of the few actors who has the ability to make any film good just by being onscreen; maybe that's why he hasn't had a flop in over ten years.
The thing is that I know Bad Boys II isn't exactly a "good" movie. It's ridiculous, silly, and is less concerned about story than stitching scenes together that provide nothing but mindless entertainment. Strangely enough, I was entertained by them. I liked the action scenes. I liked the characters, and I laughed at the humour. Call me an idiot, but the scenes work, even if the film as a whole doesn't.

They throwin' cars. How'd I not see that!

Even better than the first one! I think I really love the car chasing scenes (because lately, I'm noticing myself enjoying this kinda stuffs a lot). Though I hate when they started singing that Bad Boys song, it was cheesy.

Cop duo are back. Mike falls for Marcus' sister Syd. Marcus has had enough of the dangerous car chases, the shoot outs and so has their captain. They have to do one last job - catch the bad guys who have kidnapped Syd. Not as good as the first movie, but still full of action. Gre... read moreat car chase sequences.

Way too much Testosterone fuelled Action for my liking, guns blazing, blowing things up, it's a boys film no doubt - I've heard this is the better of the two, but I disagree, it's a patched together messy story, with little funny humour. Had to watch it in 3 go's.

Watching a Michael Bay movie is a lot like going to an amusement park. You know you won't be bored, but it's not something that's gonna stimulate your intellect. And by the end of the day, when you're nauteous from all the roller-coasting riding and overstuffed from all the junk ... read morefood, you just wanna sit down somewhere before you puke. Except, the difference is, a trip to an amusement park still leaves you with some long-lasting memories. I can't really say the same thing for this film. Great action scenes though, and the hilarious interplay between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence makes it all worthwhile.
