Along with a team that includes Laurence Fishburne, Jean Reno, and Skeet Ulrich, the group makes off with a shipment of 40 million dollars, but things start to unravel when one of them kills a homeless man as they stash the cash. Ty, who almost didn't sign on to the job but caved when his house was on the verge of foreclosure and his brother nearly taken out of his custody by Child Welfare, breaks from the plan and locks himself in one of the armored trucks until he figures out a way out of the deadly scenario. While Ty is trapped inside the truck with half of the loot, the rest of the crew has only so much time before they're reported missing, bringing life-or-death decisions to a heist where no blood was to be spilled. Things get further complicated when a patrol officer (Milo Ventimiglia) comes snooping around the warehouse district where the crew has been hiding. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, Rovi

I think this movie isn't getting the credit it deserves. It did have a few flaws and didn't have a lot of substance but all in all it was exciting to watch and I think it's an above average and unique heist movie. There was a bit of character development with great direction and ... read moreamazing cinematography and lighting. It also held a strong moral that proves that people can go from being best friends to enemies through their greediness. Ultimately, for a low budget thriller, I was pleasantly surprised by Armored because it was believable and wasn't for that matter, dumb.

This starts off as a fairly strong thriller with a good build up, but then spirals out a control and gets a little ridiculous, ultimately adding up to something shakey and a fizzled letdown. It's ALMOST fairly good though. There are some parts that are well done, and you can tell... read more that everyone was at least trying.

The problem is that the films is really evocative of far better films(mostly Reservoir Dogs) and never reaches that level of greatness. Also, some of the character actions and motivations don't really make much sense, or seem jumbled. I blame the lackluster script. The ideas at hand are kind of cool though, and the film is never boring, but it feels like there's not much at stake, and, like I said, there's not a lot of motivation given (except for one character).

The cast are good though, and the performances, while nothing great, aren't out of place for something like this. And, while he's not bad, I wasn't overly impressed with Columbus Short as the lead. He *ahem* comes up short, so to speak. Antal isn't an amazign director, but he's okay, and if he keeps working at it, he could really become a decent director.

Overall, this is a decent enough b-movie. A lot of it is not bad, but there's enough that leaves a lot to be desired to keep the rating right where it is. However, I still kind of recommend it.

I very much enjoy watching action movies with good casts and decent scripts. So although there is not much substance, it felt a well balanced film to switch on and switch off to in the evening.

My husband and I thought that this movie was really good! Good acting, Good suspense. All around interesting and exciting film!

Entertaining enough. However, 10 minutes after the heist had gone wrong there was a continuously building impossible mess to cover up, so I'm not sure what the robbers were planning on doing even if they killed the black guy. There was no way to explain what happened, so they p... read morerobably should have run away or something (especially when they still had the one half of the money). Anyhow, I liked it. Didn't like the psycho Matt Dillion truck run down sceen at the end of the movie though. It seemed way too "now we have to have the ultimate showdown with the main guy and kill him in a cool way" hollywood ending.

Simply put, Nimród Antal's Armored builds up and then falls apart.

Even though this film never reaches 90 minutes, the brief run time isn't short enough to stop the disappointment. The first 30 minutes do a decent enough job at setting up what is to come, while also pro

... read moreviding some so-so development for a few of the characters; however, when the film arrives at the main course there just isn't enough flavor. Everything becomes uninteresting as the film's setting becomes an abandoned factory.

The action is minimal and unexciting and the suspense level is low, which also contributes to the blandness of the film.

Columbus Short is the main focus of the picture, but his performance is more along the lines of a supporting character, which is not a good thing for a lead. Matt Dillon is the one that actually takes the spotlight. The rest of the cast put up acceptable performances, despite some deficiencies in the character buildup.

Armored has the premise to be something good, but in the end it doesn't deliver.

This movie was not at all what I thought it would be about. I was expecting a heist movie where one guy double-crosses the others, and it's full of twists and everyone is a malavolent criminal genius and whatnot. Nope. This one is a lot more like the thriller Stuck; the blokes in... read more this movie are all fairly good guys, but when they decide to pull off this heist, one mistake drags them one by one into a mire of worse and worse wrongdoing. It's a very tense story and a very tense situation, that tends to bring out the worst in everyone involved. This isn't so much a heist movie as a tragedy, with conscience acting as something of an unwelcome handicap, which significantly exascerbates the situation. The bulk of the events of this movie take place within the space of an hour, and it's not so much a rollicking thrill ride as an intricate character sketch. That's not to say that there aren't a few purely adrenaline-charged set pieces (like the car chase with armoured trucks), but really, that's not the most interesting part of the movie. All the actors are terrific, though some of the more peripheral characters get what seems to be insufficient screen time. Jean Reno, for example.

Despite reliable work from Dillon and Fishburne, Armored is something of a disappointment, thanks to a dull script and a lacklustre leading performance from Short.

    REVIEW

New guy at an armored car company gets talked into becoming involved in an armored car heist by his fellow drivers in order to score some quick cash. The problem is that they really don't have much of a plan and when complications arise things turn deadly. Fast moving popcorn action film has a great deal going with it. First off the film is under 90 minutes so the film doesn't really have the time to bog down in plot. It cranks everything up and just goes. Next the film has some great action sequences so one moves towards the edge of ones seat. Lastly the film has a stellar cast that include Matt Dillon, Jean Reno and Laurence Fishburne. Its a first rate cast that sells and covers over the story's short comings. This isn't brain surgery its a popcorn movie and on that level it scores highly. Worth a look.

Entertaining little thriller of a heist film about the six security guards in the armored trucks, who should protect the transported money, with a good amount of action and some unpredictable twists.
The key character is the ambiguous Ty (played by Columbus Short), a man that is ... read morefacing financial difficulties in his private life that accept to participate in the heist but betrays his friends. Therefore, the hero of Armored is actually a traitor that is rewarded in the end. This unlikable character should have been better developed in the screenplay to give a better explanation for his despicable attitude (the betrayal).
It's nice to see an action flick without CGI. The acting was average with the exception of Matt Dillon who really stood out as the leader of the "bad guys". His character is a mean son of a bitch and Dillon played the role perfectly.

Armored won't win any prizes, but it does offer comforting evidence that there's still room for a well-crafted B movie among CG-laden spectacles. Full Review
