The main character is so insufferable and pig headed at times its hard to warm to her. Beautiful looking version of the story with veterans Dewhurst and Farnsworth outstanding in support.

I love this movie, it was very true to the book and you don't get a much better cast than Dewhurst and Farnsworth together. Love it. Its a little long,but worth it.

While the sequel has the benefit of fully developed characters and storylines, this first one has the onus of setting the stage; thus the slightly less rating. But by the end it has hit it's stride, containing all emotional elements - as a great movie does.
