The main character is so insufferable and pig headed at times its hard to warm to her. Beautiful looking version of the story with veterans Dewhurst and Farnsworth outstanding in support.
I love this movie, it was very true to the book and you don't get a much better cast than Dewhurst and Farnsworth together. Love it. Its a little long,but worth it.
Thought I had this nearly memorized from childhood but still stunning and wonderfully delightful.

Top 2 in my favorite movies of all time, doesn't get ANY better than this! Kindred spirits are formed from this movie.
While the sequel has the benefit of fully developed characters and storylines, this first one has the onus of setting the stage; thus the slightly less rating. But by the end it has hit it's stride, containing all emotional elements - as a great movie does.
A childhood classic that any adult can thoroughly appreciate. Inspiring, hopeful, funny, and utterly charming. Possibly the best miniseries ever produced for television.
