Not all Luc Besson's movies like me. But this one is great. I laugh like crazy. It's a comedy/drama very good told. it should be remembered as a classic even whe the critics think is so bad. Or may be that I just like corny and funny movies with good FX. Who knows!

I liked it, good film. Reminded me of my times in Paris, and how such a romantic city it is. C'est La Vie. B&W, English subtitiles.

A welcome return from Luc Besson the director. A well acted and beautifully filmed love story, although the story was slightly predictable and slightly flawed it really is a fantastic contemporary version of a classic story. More please Mr Besson!

When a downtrodden small timer tries to kill himself when faced with insurmountable debts, he meets his guardian angel in the form of a statuesque beauty. Beautifully photographed in and around Paris, Angel-A sees Luc Besson returning to the familiar territory of French cinema in... read more

A film that progressively satisfies, the further you watch and is full of metaphorical value.
Quirky, yet grounded (as much as a story about an Angel can be). Great characters, enjoyable storyline, something that reminded me in it?s theme to ?It?s a Wonderful Life?. -

Acclaimed writer/director Luc Besson (La Femme Nikita, Leon, and The Fifth Element) returns to live action filmmaking with Angel-A for the first time since 1999's misfire "The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc" with mixed results. Filmed in beautiful black and white photograph... read more

Lovely. I was unsure whether black and white would really work for me, but it made the visuals more arresting not to be distracted by colour, especially in the case of Angela herself.

I expected more from Luc Besson. It was neat for the first half, then it became predictable garbage.

I liked the look of the movie and how simple it was. It was a true character study. The two actors were good on screen together and the contrast in their appearance worked very well for the message it was trying to tell.
It was a weird movie that some may not like for it is slo... read more

Familiar situations and trite dialogue give this movie the feel of something freeze-dried and reconstituted. Full Review
Besson's black-and-white angel fantasy is a weak homage to Wings of Desire, if that's what he was shooting for. Full Review
You desperately want the story, and the characters, to make some kind of emotional sense. This, however, does not happen. Full Review
Counterfeit art-house chic writ large -- a French film that fails to produce the ineffable charms of the yesteryear movies it brazenly imitates. Full Review
[The] plot is warmed-over Capra, and it's no wonderful-life yarn. Full Review
The strained fairy tale feels like writer/director Luc Besson's effort to move beyond the pop giddiness of La Femme Nikita and The Fifth Element to a mature statement about issues important to him, bu...
Besson's dialogue is often inane, occasionally sounding like it is copied verbatim out of a new age self-help manual. Full Review
It seems Besson can be sentimental about Paris but he's still not ready to get too romantic with people. Full Review
Feels like a mash-up of It's a Wonderful Life and Xanadu, without the wholesome sweetness of the first and the campy excesses of the second. Full Review
