In this drama, two people discover that it's not as simple as they thought to have a purely sexual relationship. The meetings are meant to be exciting but impersonal; they agree that they won't exchange names or ask questions about their lives outside this relationship. They also don't engage in convention, though we're never told (or shown) just what the couple is sharing instead. However, as the weeks go by, a bond grows between them, and after several weeks he proposes that they have dinner together before retiring to their hotel room; a few months down the road, she suggests that they should try making love in the traditional manner for the first time. These events bring them closer together, but they also change the tenor of their relationship; this change is symbolized most clearly when a man collapses in the hallway outside their motel room and together they take him to a hospital.     A cute 40ish French couple recount the stages of their 'pornographic' affair to an interviewer. I say cute because most of the acting they both do is thoughtful, sincere reflection and they are quite sweet doing it.

    BIG SPOILER:
    We are never told nor shown what kind of kinky sex... read more constitutes the affair. Instead, the focus is on how they come to really like each other and then sadly decide to stop seeing one another.

    Even though I liked the characters I think the film is a cheap tease and tries to pull on the heartstrings too much. I don't know what the goal is for the film and the ride by itself isn't good enough to compensate. It is neither erotic nor sexy, and for a 'talkie' film it has a little too much yardage between the goal posts.

    I liked the actors very much. Good acting, good enough film... I felt so...blue about the ending though :-(
