Then how about the movie, All I Want For Christmas. No, the movie has nothing to do w... read moreith Donald Gardner's 1964 classic song. And while it's hardly the best Christmas movie ever written (its storyline is extremely cliche), it's still a great turn off yoru brain, seasonal flick.

    The storyline behind All I Want for Christmas hardly offers anything new or exciting to the Christmas movie landscape. It centers on a pair of children who are trying to bring their divorced parents together for the holidays. While it isn't a holiday movie, Walt Disney's 1961 classic, The Parent Trap, sees a very similar storyline executed. While The Parent Trap was cheesy in its own right, it's still far more memorable than All I Want For Christmas. Even the work of veteran actor and actress Kevin Nealon (SNL, Get Smart, Aliens in The Attic, Just Go With It, etc.) and Lauren Bacall (The Big Sleep, To Have and Hve Not, Sex and the Single Girl, etc.) do little to make this overly predictable movie anything memorable.

    As predictable, formulaic, and unrealistic as it is, All I Want For Christmas does have one thing going for it. That one thing is that it doesn't take on any political or theological themes. It's just a fun, turn off your brain movie that leaves audiences with the warm, fuzzy feeling that holiday movies should create. Given, the ending--which won't be revealed here--isn't exactly realistic. The ending to Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) is more realistic. But especially during the holiday season, audiences need to about which they can feel good. So to that extent, the writers behind All I Want For Christmas can't be blamed.

    All I Want For Christmas doesn't do much to put itself into the pantheon of classic Christmas standards. Its story is anything but original. But in comparison to other movies in the modern era of holiday movies, it is a fun, entertaining, family friendly movie. To that extent, it may actually become a Christmas classic in its own right. It may take longer than other modern holiday favorites. But chances are it will increasingly make its way onto the holiday standards lists as the years pass.

    This movie was much faster paced than Parent Trap which it shares a plot with, but this one has a brother and sister making it more accessible to boys. The chaos of Christmas is fun when you add mice, ice trucks and mean boyfriends into the mix.

    This is one of my favorite Christmas movies! I remember watching it when I was a little girl & could totally relate to the Hallie! A great movie for anyone who's parents aren't together. Has laughs & a great storyline!! One I can watch over & over again!
