Visual effects specialists Greg and Colin Strause both make their feature directorial debut with this no-holds-barred monster mash that attempts to set itself apart from the 2004 Paul W.S. Anderson or... read more read more...iginal by serving as a straight-up sci-fi horror scarefest. The aliens (and a predator) have landed on planet Earth, and small-town America is about to become the scene of an epic interstellar showdown. As these two breeds of cosmic killers clash in the small-town streets Gunnison, CO, the locals are sent running for their lives. From the murky sewers to the rain-soaked streets, Gunnison has become a total bloodbath. Nowhere is safe, especially from the unstoppable new hybrid known as the "predalien." Now, as the once-quiet community of Gunnison is overrun by Aliens, the only hope for humankind is a fierce hunter from the deepest reaches of space. But this predator is far from a benevolent savior of the human race, because he'll kill any man, woman, or child who gets in the way of his mission to destroy every last alien under these stormy Colorado skies. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Possibly good action movie and gorefest was hammpered by poor acting and one of the worst visually shot films in decades. Way too dark and almost impossible to make anything out.

Well shock horror enough instalment and i think they have milked this franchise far too much! Its enjoyable enough to a point but when there is no new story then someone should say 'loook shall we actually make another' quite frankly if you've any and i mean any of the previous A... read moreVP/predators or even alien then im pretty sure you can get the jist of this movie pretty quickly!

AVP 2 continues directly from the ending of the first film, with an alien/predator hybrid causing the ship to crash land back on Earth. A second ship is dispatched containing a kind of space-age alien cross between a CSI and Batman to clear up the resulting mess. The first film w... read moreas dumb but fun, but I have to say I did not have high hopes for this one. At first it seemed that my fears were going to be justified because the first act of the film resembled a teen slasher flick more than anything else, complete with semi-clad nubile teens, people being picked off one by one in dark corridors and the inevitable pre-scares and false alarms. However, once the aliens hit the surface things got a LOT better. It "borrows" ideas heavily from other sources, notably Dawn Of The Dead and especially Aliens; a couple of scenes are lifted directly from it and the kick-ass mom protecting her young daughter is an obvious copy of Ripley. But it does it WELL. Despite the fact that the film can look a little too dark making it difficult to tell what's going on in places, it does look great and the fight sequences are very well done. The small town stereotypes are a little underwritten but as the violence gets more and more intense it gets better and better. Short on originality and suspense but long on blood spattered action, like Zack Snyder's remake of Dawn Of The Dead, AVP Requiem does not work as horror but for a shooting-monsters-with-big-guns sci-fi splatterfest it's a visceral, edge of the seat rollercoaster ride.

I'll credit Requiem for bringing the much needed gore that Alien vs. Predator didn't deliver. But yes, it is pretty much the first film again and basically a very disorienting dull film otherwise anyway. Two rights have made a wrong yet again.

OK OK now I'm the biggest fudging Predator fan around and I have been waiting for this baby. The first 'AvP' was a horrible disappointment but can I say this is a better film? somewhat, even though it still pales in comparison to the classic originals.
Right..the predalien is so... read moremewhat of a mess I'm afraid, not well created or conceived in my opinion (oh how I wish Mr Winston was still on the scene) it brings back memories of the shitty looking human/alien hybrid from 'Alien Resurrection', not good.

The start of the film is slow and uninteresting to be honest, the sequence where the predalien makes the predator ship crash is poor frankly and doesn't leave a positive feeling for the rest but it does get better to a degree. The predator has been slimmed down and looks and sounds much more to the original predator although the face is still not as good as the original, the blood and gore is on par and does look good, the face melting sequence is great. The battles between Alien and Pred are good, alittle short but still hit the mark, ('AvP' had good battles too) its probably the easiest thing to do as it will always look cool having an alien fight a predator.

The story is really just your average tacky killer fodder flick, group of people you don't care about getting killed off one by one, totally cliched and lacking originality. The humans pointless, too easily taken down, young, dumb, faceless and running around needlessly, although I'm not here for the humans you of course need some reasonable cast to pull it together which this film lacks. Generally there is allot of 'Aliens' ripping going on, allot of very similar scenes, the army v aliens shootout is easily an attempted Cameron copy of the Marines first encounter in the bowels of the nuclear-powered atmosphere processing station on 'LV-426'.

A little girl asking about monsters, the final escape to a chopper is both Aliens and Predator and some identical dialog used too but it does actually add to the film a little. All in all the problem is the two warring species aren't scary anymore, the two original films for the creatures were very scary and tense whilst this film is more of a cheap slasher with nameless characters, no proper plot build up and rushed. What they should do is a total war flick between aliens and preds with no humans, on the pred home world (which is still fully unrealised) or a predator outpost somewhere in the galaxy using just their own language.

To really make things worse the whole film is so dark its actually very hard to make out what is going on, allot of gore and detail is virtually invisible down to the picture quality!! and this doesn't change for the DVD/BR releases either.

Its just a reverse of the first AvP film, this time they got the Predator looking sweet and back in all his original glory but now they messed up the aliens by making them seem too obvious and creating a horrendous abomination in the hybrid, more funny than scary.
Poster art is great yet highly deceiving folks ;)

REQUIEM is considerably better than the original AVP movie, now with a well-deserved R rating, but this is still a pretty awful waste of time. (Note: I'm glad they name they characters and I didn't have to research their names.)

Better than the first but still sucked. The storyline was more interesting than the first but it was still very boring. The cast was dull and uninteresting. The action and special effects were nothing great, or at least I thought so. This is a terrible movie but a better sequel.

This film had the potential to be good, stupid, bloody fun, but unbearable and incomprehensible cinematography and lighting killed it. Skip this technical mess.

Well, the first AVP film had a somewhat passable story, it just failed to deliver the goods in terms of great action and, most importantly, violence. Thjis film on the other hand, has no real story, no real context for why the shit that happens happens, but it gets the grade I'm ... read moregiving it because it is stylish, the Predalien looks cool and is cool, it delivers (in spades) the violence and gore (and the effects look good, but, most importantly, even though this film does pretty much suck, it gets tons of points for the fact that it is unapologetically ballsy. This film pulls no punches, so, even though the writing, directing, and acting suck, the fact that some of the victims include a little kid and a pregnant women is a sign of courage, originality, and risk, and it is those thing that can mean a lot in the world of filmmaking. Of course, the mindlessness of it all wouldn't be there if we actually cared for anything that happens, so these shocking moments are pretty much hollow and devoid of any sort of merity other than ballsiness, but I was drunk when I saw this, so I'll let it slide. And plus, the film is entertaining, even if it sucks. It got some stuff right, even if, in the end it doesn't really mean a lot. At this point, you'll probably know if you wanna see this or not, so there ya go. Don't expect much except for some much needed gore and shock moments being brought back into the unioverse of aliens and predators.

The DVD should have come with nightvision goggles... couldn't see a fuckin' thing!! The first AvP was criticized for lack of gore and violence, the makers of this one promised some but didn't tell us that you needed Owl retinas capable of detecting it. It was action-packed for th... read moree most part though and the Aliens and Predators looked great. But overall it's a forgettable wasted opportunity... yet again.
