Much like Burn After Reading felt like the Coens trying too hard to make a "Coen" film, Alice, a loose reimagining of Juliet of the Spirits, feels like Woody desperately trying to make a "Woody Allen" film. To no avail.

Ghosts, hallucinations, love potions, invisibility and penguins. An outlandish but likable exposé on the true meaning of happiness. (Directed by Woody Allen)

This film very much has the Woody Allen stamp on it and you?d be able to tell it was a Woody Allen film even if you did not know. It?s a quirky film, where the imagination is brought to life helped along with a few magical herbs and where an escalation of events help to guide th... read more

Although the originality was certainly not lacking and it pays homage to eclectic sources like Charles Dickens and Alice in Wonderland all at once, this is one of the few Woody Allen movies I've found to be draggy and not fully developed. It IS one of the longer ones, and after t... read more

I thought this movie was very entertaining mainly because Mia does an amazing Woody Allen as a women impression really well. The thing that got to me the most was the cinematography which ranks up there with the best of Woody's films. I also like Joe Mantagna a lot in the film an... read more

What a strange movie. For the most part, I didn't like it. I decided Mia Farrow is best when she doesn't have to carry an entire movie on her shoulders. It's dull at points, but the ending is surprisingly thouching. I only got a couple chuckles in.

Some scenes were pretentious, others scenes felt like sitting out in the park on a Sunday afternoon. "Alice" isn't a bad film but by the time you are done watching the movie, you'll easily have forgotten it. I was getting the feeling Allen dedicated this movie to Mia Farrow.
Critic Reviews
Continues Allen's endless, banal quest for the Big Answers. Full Review
Farrow peers through the looking glass sparkly in lovely Alice, a downright adorable collaboration with the mellowed father-of-her-child. Full Review
a second-tier Woody Allen film, starring then companion Mia Farrow. Full Review
Farrow relishes the opportunity to play everything from a timid, guilt-racked housewife to a sultry amoral siren, who does everything short of attacking her victim... Full Review
Allen overstuffs the movie with cameos and contrivances.
Underrated Woody Allen offering with some fine performances and a lot of style.
Supposedly whimsical fantasy by Woody Allen feels forced and underdeveloped. Great performances by Joe Mantegna and Mia Farrow are lost in Allen's bizarre dream world.
Drags on far too long, but there are moments that tickle the imagination and continue to provoke chuckles days after seeing the film. Full Review
